Since I used an Apple Cinemadisplay before, design matters for me. Display: Viewsonic VX3276-2K-MHD connected via original DEX Pad. Seems to be a special cable, my prioir HDMI cable didn't allow more than FHD even with DEX Pad.

I have a USB C dongle that has USB A, HDMI and USB C plugs on it. Using this I've been able to use Dex on my Android 10 Note 10+ without issue connected to a Sharp 42" LCD TV... everything seems to work.

When I take the same dongle/cables/TV and plug it into my S8 (Android 9), I get video but audio never comes through. I'm selecting it properly by right clicking the speaker/audio icon lower right, but no audio comes through the TV. If I flip it back to device speakers that works playing out the phone speakers as expected, but nothing through HDMI.

I've tried Desktop Hub (free version) to enable HDMI audio on Startup, but that doesn't seem to change anything.

Anything else I can attempt? I can't get why this setup would work fine with the Note 10+ but provides no audio via S8. (I was planning on leaving my S8 permanently connected to the TV but it's useless to me if there's no sound).

So I tried the same setup on a newer TV (2019 LG) and audio worked fine with my S8.

If I then return to my Sharp TV the audio keeps working.

If I reboot the phone tho I need to connect Dex to the new TV first before it will work on the older one. Anybody experienced this?

***Fixed it.. but not entirely sure how. I did a factory reset but the issue persisted. After a few more swaps between the two TVs it now seems fine to connect to my Sharp TV after boot and gives me audio. Weird.***

DeX has stopped working for me @ 3440X1440.

S10+
I have the official Samsung DeX Pad (EE-M5100TBEGUS)
It's plugged into the original Samsung Fast Charger with USB-C
The DeX Pad is plugged into my LG 38UC99-W monitor via HDMI
The HDMI cable and LG 38UC99-W monitor have been checked with my laptop and they indeed work at 3840 x 1600.
The S10+ and DeX dock will not give me the 3440 x 1440 resolution choice. I used them many many times in the past. Exact same hardware with no problems of changing resolutions in DeX.
I'm now stuck at 1920X1080, none of the other resolutions are selectable, they are all greyed out.

Is this another wonderful feature of the Android 10 update? Nothing has changed since I had this working before other than the update to Android 10.

Can anyone use DeX on the S10+ with Android 10 supporting high resolutions like 3440x1440 ???

I can confirm s10+ will work on that resolution with DEX on android 10. I use a Samsung ultrawide 34 inch monitor and a usb-c / HDMI 4K cable. Maby that is ur problem? The HDMI cable?

I have a Nite10+ now, same setup and DEX working just fime

I plugged the HDMI cable into my MacBook Pro and I get crystal clear 3840x1600 resolution. This is the exact same HDMI cable that's been plugged into the DeX Pad since last summer and always gave me 3440X1440. The only thing I can think of that has changed is my phone originally had Android 9 and now it has 10.

Thanks for replying... I'm completely baffled.

@trinec and @Axelman8 , Did you guys ever use your phones in DeX mode on your Mac or PC computer? Samsung has 2 different DeX modes now. One is using a doc that allows you to use a monitor and mouse. The other is plugged directly into your laptop and your laptop screen and mouse become the DeX environment. I'm wondering if my problem has something to do with the direct computer connection mode. I never had screen resolution problems when I was plugged into my monitor @ 3440X1440. I'm wondering if the problem is a result of using the phone as a DeX station on my computer for the last few months. Maybe the DeX envirornment on my phone is "stuck" in the resolution it displays on my computer.

Can anyone verify using the phone in both modes with no problems of high resolution display issues?

Another thing... has anyone been able to get Android File Transfer working on OSX after installing Samsung DeX on OSX? There are times I don't want the DeX envirornment to run when I plug my S10+ into my Mac, I just want to use Android File Transfer.

It drives me crazy; Dex app for Win10 works great (on my desktop), but as I live in the Android/ Google biosphere I would like to connect (and use!) Dex on my Chromebook - but I cannot find a way to connect Dex to Chrome OS.
I have tried wine/crossover with Dex Win10 app - it just does not work.

Can anybody help me to solve this; a chrome/google play store/(Linux?) solution to get the same experience as Dex on Windows, on my Chromebook laptop?
I cannot believe that two Android/Google systems cannot be connected - while connection with MS, Apple OSs is available!

I just tried to connect my good ol' S8 to my Windows10 computer and...well, it didn't work in Dex mode.

I was wondering if I'm doing something wrong, or the S8 is not supported, or I should check another ROM/kernel?

According to the FAQ, Dex on Windows works only on S9 and later devices (but generally there are exceptions). I see some posts about Dex on Windows here...

I'm on Alexis 8.9 ROM with Nox R30 kernel.

Thx, any idea on the timing? On 21st August Samsung announced they will upgrade, but it's already almost 2 months later and no update has arrived yet.

Samsung seems committed to rolling this One UI 2.5 update as quickly as possible and in that regard, it is coming to light that Samsung is equally pushing to roll out One UI 2.5 to the Galaxy Fold in October as well.

In another post on the same community forum, Samsung, through a forum moderator, confirms that this update should also bring a number of Fold 2 features to the original Galaxy Fold. Also note that the following excerpt has been translated from Korean.

The new software for the Galaxy Fold1 terminal is being prepared according to the planned schedule.
OneUI2.5 support SW update schedule is being prepared for distribution in October.

There are several structural differences in OneUI2.5 SW between Fold2, which is scheduled to be released on September 18th and Note20, which is released on August 21st. OneUI2.5 to be applied to Fold1 should be based on the SW applied to Fold2, so I prepared it from some time before the Fold2 development was completed.
The current Fold1 model is also being prepared by reflecting the OneUI2.5 SW applied to Fold2, and we will do our best to deliver high-quality firmware.

Changing resolution only affects main screen

Hi!

I am connected to DeX displayed on a monitor, which is connected to a Tab S6. When I use the ADB commands to change the resolution, it only affects the tablet itself, not the monitor. So there aren't any changes on monitor where DeX is displayed.
Is there something I am missing? Thanks!
