It the I8730 is anything like the early i437 then if you want to make CWM permanent go to the /system/etc/ folder and rename the file "install-recovery.sh" to something else like "install-recovery.sh.old". Any name will do as long as it isn't the original name. After you do this you can install whatever CWM version works on that phone and it will remain the recovery option for the phone. If you rename "install-recovery.sh.old" back to its original name and reboot you will get your stock recovery back.you can still install adobe flash player apk, just search here on xda
on my s advance Kernel and recovery (stock or custom) are in the same partition. So they must come in package, some other phones can install it separatly, because it is not connected to kernel partition. Until i get my hands on the phone i can`t be sure, but a temporary recovery is posible on stock kernel, what temp recovery means? after you reboot you lose the CWM, but for example if u make a back-up after you reflash CWM you can restore your backup.
Don`t get your hopes too high about CM, it requires allot of knowledge, in my s advance is a team of 8 developer... and they dont have yet a stable release. I can look into it but it will take time. What i can develop more easy? a ROM based on stock witch will have 0 bugs, but first CWM
Regarding CWM could someone provide me recovery.fstab? using root browser it can be found in the etc folder.
I own an Express i437 and have done this myself and a few other friends have done it too. But it seems that the i437s sold later after the JellyBean update do not have the file and so when you install a custom recovery on them it sticks without having to do anything. I am assuming that the i8730 has the same file that prevents keeping a custom recovery since you said that it goes back to the stock recovery after a reboot. So anyway, look in that folder and see if you have that file. If you do, a simple rename is your fix to a permanent custom recovery and you can always go back to the stock recovery simply by renaming it back to its original name. Do not delete the file, just rename it. That way you always have a quick and simple way to get back to your stock recovery without having to find a stock recovery image.

Have you tried what I described in my post here on page 7. The i8730 and i437 are so similar it will probably work. The motochopper root works on both and I bet if someone tried Shabbypenguins OUDHS-based CWM recovery they will find that it works too. But since you all seem to not be able to get a custom recovery to stick I figured it is probably the same problem we had with the i437 (at least the early ones). My other post explains how to get the CWM recovery to stay and not revert back to the stock one when you reboot. Once again, I am using shabbypenguin's version which has all the tools of the plain old CWM recovery. Look at my other post and give it a try and see if it works. I am betting it does.SO it seems there is no custom recovery for the device... I just got it a few days ago thinking WOW what a good phone and it also looks like the S3.. All of my phones have either been jailbroken or rooted. Turns out the phone has no recovery section. It's in the Kernel, so therefor you will need to build a whole new kernel.. I would love to have this device rooted with a recovery to install roms and such. I will also love to donate for the project if anyone does it.

From what I have been reading, shabbypenguin's OUDHS-based version of CWM works just fine on the I8730. It is located here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2240989Hey, doarmga... I'm quite agree with u. A CWM is quite an essential for customizing ROMs, without it, ODIN will be needed if there are going to be problems, and that's bad as it increases the binary counter... omg.
Me too, am one of the guys looking ard for i8730 recovery which is stable and usable, but I can predict tht none exists yet currently. I have search the web as well as XDA and I came to this site: builder(dot)clockworkmod(dot)com/ ...
This allows people to build recovery but then there are details tht are required and catch me no balls haha... Example lik recovery.fstab, graphics.c which I think this should somehow that are needed for the tool to work properly before the CWM recovery can be generated. I think this is similar to the thread -> showthread.php?t=2285898tht someone has tried.
From what I have read you guys can't get a custom recovery to stick on your phone. When it reboots it goes back to the stock recovery. Well if you follow my instructions on page 7 here or in the thread above on page 4 (here is the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2240989&page=4 ) I am pretty sure that you will be able to keep CWM even after the reboot.
