you can still install adobe flash player apk, just search here on xda
on my s advance Kernel and recovery (stock or custom) are in the same partition. So they must come in package, some other phones can install it separatly, because it is not connected to kernel partition. Until i get my hands on the phone i can`t be sure, but a temporary recovery is posible on stock kernel, what temp recovery means? after you reboot you lose the CWM, but for example if u make a back-up after you reflash CWM you can restore your backup.
Don`t get your hopes too high about CM, it requires allot of knowledge, in my s advance is a team of 8 developer... and they dont have yet a stable release. I can look into it but it will take time. What i can develop more easy? a ROM based on stock witch will have 0 bugs :), but first CWM
Regarding CWM could someone provide me recovery.fstab? using root browser it can be found in the etc folder.
It the I8730 is anything like the early i437 then if you want to make CWM permanent go to the /system/etc/ folder and rename the file "install-recovery.sh" to something else like "install-recovery.sh.old". Any name will do as long as it isn't the original name. After you do this you can install whatever CWM version works on that phone and it will remain the recovery option for the phone. If you rename "install-recovery.sh.old" back to its original name and reboot you will get your stock recovery back.

I own an Express i437 and have done this myself and a few other friends have done it too. But it seems that the i437s sold later after the JellyBean update do not have the file and so when you install a custom recovery on them it sticks without having to do anything. I am assuming that the i8730 has the same file that prevents keeping a custom recovery since you said that it goes back to the stock recovery after a reboot. So anyway, look in that folder and see if you have that file. If you do, a simple rename is your fix to a permanent custom recovery and you can always go back to the stock recovery simply by renaming it back to its original name. Do not delete the file, just rename it. That way you always have a quick and simple way to get back to your stock recovery without having to find a stock recovery image.

SO it seems there is no custom recovery for the device... I just got it a few days ago thinking WOW what a good phone and it also looks like the S3.. All of my phones have either been jailbroken or rooted. Turns out the phone has no recovery section. It's in the Kernel, so therefor you will need to build a whole new kernel.. I would love to have this device rooted with a recovery to install roms and such. I will also love to donate for the project if anyone does it.
Have you tried what I described in my post here on page 7. The i8730 and i437 are so similar it will probably work. The motochopper root works on both and I bet if someone tried Shabbypenguins OUDHS-based CWM recovery they will find that it works too. But since you all seem to not be able to get a custom recovery to stick I figured it is probably the same problem we had with the i437 (at least the early ones). My other post explains how to get the CWM recovery to stay and not revert back to the stock one when you reboot. Once again, I am using shabbypenguin's version which has all the tools of the plain old CWM recovery. Look at my other post and give it a try and see if it works. I am betting it does.

Hey, doarmga... I'm quite agree with u. A CWM is quite an essential for customizing ROMs, without it, ODIN will be needed if there are going to be problems, and that's bad as it increases the binary counter... omg.

Me too, am one of the guys looking ard for i8730 recovery which is stable and usable, but I can predict tht none exists yet currently. I have search the web as well as XDA and I came to this site: builder(dot)clockworkmod(dot)com/ ...

This allows people to build recovery but then there are details tht are required and catch me no balls haha... Example lik recovery.fstab, graphics.c which I think this should somehow that are needed for the tool to work properly before the CWM recovery can be generated. I think this is similar to the thread -> showthread.php?t=2285898tht someone has tried.
From what I have been reading, shabbypenguin's OUDHS-based version of CWM works just fine on the I8730. It is located here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2240989

From what I have read you guys can't get a custom recovery to stick on your phone. When it reboots it goes back to the stock recovery. Well if you follow my instructions on page 7 here or in the thread above on page 4 (here is the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2240989&page=4 ) I am pretty sure that you will be able to keep CWM even after the reboot.

I bought my I8730 in Singapore. It was unveiled April 5, and I bought it right about a week after. Is my phone consiered new or old?

I was speaking of the i437 when I spoke of the newer and older ones. I am not sure when the change took place but sometime after I bought my phone in March which has the "install-recovery.sh" file and thus can be renamed and allow CWM to be permanently installed and when I want the stock recovery back I just return the file to its original name and reboot. If you do not have a file by that name or something similar in your /system/ or /system/etc/ folders then it isn't like mine. You can also look for a file by the name of "recovery-from-boot.p" or something similar. Again, if its not there it is like the newer i437s and not mine. I like having the file. It lets me return to stock recovery anytime just by renaming a file.

Nope, sorry, the files you have specified are not present.

Actually I am the one that is sorry for you guys. Having those files makes life so much easier. Getting back to the stock recovery is so much easier just renaming a file. But for some reason they have stopped putting them on the phones. Probably because they thought it would stop the installing of custom recoveries but it backfired and actually made it easier to work with them.

Hey thanks for the info, sadly it doesn't work. I've tried multiple times and when you try to go to recovery, it will be stuck there saying entering recovery (Or whatever is says).

I wonder why it works for some and not for others with your phone? But I shouldn't be surprised, with the i437 different people get different results on the various things they try to do. Plus, they have changed some things about the phone since it was first introduced. I am sorry you can't get it to work. If the shabbypenguin version doesn't work I have seen photos of an i437 with CWM 6.0.3.3 installed and working. I don't know if it works on the i8730 but you might ask around about it or give it a try yourself.

It should. Or else I will pull out my hair.
Anyway, I tried flashing stuff from a different phone onto my former Backflip. Moto didn't release GB for the international version. The CM 7 I downloaded was meant for the AT&T version but it worked fine. Flawless actually. Even j_r0dd's recovery and CWM work fine. So I guess it would also be the same case for the Express.
I would be more than pleased to try out CWM 6.0.3.3 and CM 10.1 once builds come out.

tnx for the info, i tryed shabbypenguin`s cwm and it doesn`t work. we actually doesn`t have a working cwm so the recovery staing permanently is the least of my worries :) i tryed allot of signed zips (20), i have been searching allot of new methods for a working cwm and nothing is working for now. the i437 has a different hardware so you can only port a rom from it, this will be difficult, better start from scratch...
when we get cwm i will make a adb pull from the sistem, deodex the apps, edit the build.prop, implement some scripts, change the look, and make a flashable zip. cm 10.1 will be hard for me because im not good at building from source... what i can say is that this phone is a very good device, i don`t regrete buying this phone. i can`t wait for the MHL cable to arrive and play some games with my friends on the TV :D

jt1134 said that CWM 6.0.3.3 works perfectly on his i437, but CM 10.1 installs but does almost nothing so it is going to take a lot of work. But i am looking for something from him very soon. I am assuming it is the CWM version, but maybe something on CM 10.1 too.

You have an update for the i8730? Please upload the .cfg file at /cache/fota/. Do an adb pull.
My phone is marked as Custom, so I can't do FOTAs.

So still no CWM for the I8730 and I8730-T?

Damn son. I know it takes long but S4 has only been out for a few weeks and it already has root and highly advanced ROM system and CWM!!:crying::crying::crying::crying:

I thought that after the update was complete that the file was deleted from the phone. I tried to get the last update from my phone and it was gone. I was under the impression that you have to let the update download then choose Postpone instead of Install and then you can simply copy the file from the /cache/fota folder. Am I completely wrong? Thanks for helping me out.

S4 mini vs Express

@petraru1: First off i 've seen that the main discussion is on the development post but i can't post in the development sections yet so i must reply here:

According to the Wikypedia article on Snapdragon (soc) (sorry, can't post links yet, google it), the Samsung Express uses a Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8930 proccesor like the one found in HTC One VX, HTC One SV (4G Version) and Nokia Lumia 625.

The Samsung S4 Mini uses the Snapdragon 400 8230AB processor found also in Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini Duos.

I'm afraid that the S4 Mini is a dead-road because it's quite different inside.
