do a backup first wit TWRP then put the tmobile twrp backup in the last folder it will be in your sd card twrp-backups-ect-ect-

hope you dont get the same issue as me, the sim card wont show up so only works with wifi now. trying to do the EFS professional but it says devices not connected now
But light hammer says you can't END with an opposing service. Isn't this what he meant would NOT work??? I'm confused. I don;t want to attempt this file transfer in structure technique if it is going to mess up anything.

And that worked???

1. You had (same as me right now) your TMOB phone running the METROpcsd firmware.
2. You flashed the Lighthammer's posted "#14.) Download the T-Mobile TWRP Backup " in TWRP (just like you would a cu...up? If so, do you even need to do step 3???

i flashed the metropcs using odin then i flashed twrp and i made a backup like i said before and in the last folder i placed the tmob twrp zip and then in the twrp click restore and you should be able to see the zip and install it, my phone doesnt recognize the sim card now, its gonna be the EFS folder more likely
I need to flash the MetroPCS firmware again? It is already on my phone. If I don't need the backup (to restore) that you're saying you can't see on your SD card, then I'm not gong to bother. All I want is a clean T-mobile installation.

I'm going to hit the sack, and then see if lighthammer can chime in later.

1. I found my EFS folder in the root of my phone via EFS. I went to back it up on my computer, but it looks empty to me. So...?
2. What do I do next? Can I just flash the file from #14? "StockROM - G550T1 - UVU1APF1 v6.0.1 (TMO).zip"

Do I need to flash the MetroPCS firmware again? If I don't need the backup that you're saying you can't see on your SD card, then I'm not gong to bother. All I want is a clean T-mobile installation.

you only need to install it one time with odin then use twrp to flash the tmob zip from the recovery folder

As an FYI to TMO users, this is the surest way to get your phone back up and running:

#13.) Use ODIN to Flash the BL, AP and CP files AT THE SAME TIME.

#14.) Download the T-Mobile TWRP Backup [URL]

#15.) Reboot your phone into recovery (Hold Home + Volume Up + Power; then release Power once you see the Samsung Logo)

#16.) While in TWRP Recovery, mount your SDCard as MTP via USB and copy the T-Mobile TWRP Recovery to your SDCard from your computer (you can also use ADB for this while in TWRP Recovery)

#17.) While in TWRP Recovery, mount your SDCard as MTP via USB and copy the SuperSU to your SDCard from your computer (you can also use ADB for this while in TWRP Recovery)

#18.) Reboot your phone. You should be good to go!

OK. I downloaded the apk for root explorer, installed it and looked in the phone's root/efs folder, and it is most definitely NOT empty. I have it backed up on both the SD card, and on my PC. I just need to know what to do now. I lfeel like I am missing a step from the second post.

Status... I have a t-mobile phone that is masquerading as a MetroPCS phone that is (I think) no longer showing FRP lock symptoms, it is rooted, and I have backed up the EFS folder. What step am I on from the second post? Also...

Shouldn't there be a step in between #17 and #18 where you TWRP flash the t-mobile file from #14???? "StockROM - G550T1 - UVU1APF1 v6.0.1 (TMO).zip"

I'm seriously sorry if I am being a bonehead here. I just don't want to miss anything. I have shell shock from this whole FRP boolsh1t.

On the s3 there was a dialer code that took you to a menu. (The menu where 4.1 roms could carrier unlock for free) and they had an option for nv rebuild. This would fix the gps and all sorts of issues when switching from touchwiz to aosp and cm builds. Has anyone tried any of that? Might help, might not. Im good over here so I aint tryin it!!

i was looking up how to fix the EFS folder because i had the unknown band in my phone but right now as i was reading some sites i looked at my phone and it works now, its tmobile, it just works again. all i did before was to intall "root exporer" and made a backup of the EFS then tried to delete it like on a site and it gave me error and then it worked.

this is the site i was gonna try and use but i couldnt delete the EFS folder like it said.

Sounds like you deleted "enough right parts" as the phone was adding data it worked.

I don't know if we have a full understanding how the EFS folder works. A lot of it is encrypted.
im so happy it works now, needed my phone asap. hope i can help others get their phone working again. thanks for the help and you time to make this thread.

Awesome! So just to be clear of the steps for right now. Remember, I was in the same place as you! I have everything backed up.

1. Boot into Odin, flash metroPCS Firmware update (BL, AP and CP files AT THE SAME TIME) with not auto-restart.
2. Battery out. Battery back in.
3. Boot into recovery, Flash T-MO Rom: (StockROM - G550T1 - UVU1APF1 v6.0.1)
4. Re-boot.

YES????? :)

yes, after you flash TWRP into the phone go into it and backup your phone so it creates the backup folder then go to the last folder and place the TMO TWRP backup there then go back to main screen on TWRP and select, RESTORE and it will show the TMO TWRP backup zip.
you might get the unknown band thing like i did.

OK. It worked!!! This is what I did. ( I am not responsible for sh1t if anyone does anything bad to anything, ever)

1. Boot into DL mode (power+down+home) and connect to odin, flash metroPCS Firmware update (BL, AP and CP files AT THE SAME TIME) with auto reboot unchecked. Let it finish to "RESET"
2. Battery out. Battery back in.
3. Boot BACK into DL mode, connect to odin. Flash TWRP recovery with auto reboot unchecked. (Not sure why it would not do it at the same time after step 1, but whatever)
4. Battery out. Battery back in.
5. Boot into TWRP recovery (power+up+home), make a backup.
6. USB connect your phone to your PC. Save the backup from the TWRP folder to somewhere on your PC. Leave the folders on the phone, just make a copy and paste somewhere for safe keeping. (you probably wont need it)
7. Replace the contents of the final folder (of the newly created TWRP backup) on your SD card with the contents of "StockROM - G550T1 - UVU1APF1 v6.0.1 (TMO)"
For example, your backup folder will look something like this on your SD card:
SM-G550T1\Card\TWRP\BACKUPS\4200fa40da5773d1\2016-09-25--22-20-31_MMB29K.G550T1UVU1APF1/THE OLD STUFF

From your PC, you need to get rid of all that OLD STUFF on your SD and replace it with the NEW STUFF from the unzipped StockRom. So your folder on your SD card should look something like this:
SM-G550T1\Card\TWRP\BACKUPS\4200fa40da5773d1\2016-09-25--22-20-31_MMB29K.G550T1UVU1APF1/THE NEW STUFF (GET RID OF THE OLD STUFF)
7. Do a TWRP Restore (should only be one choice). DO NOT RESTORE THE EFS FOLDER.

8. Re-boot.

That's what I did. It worked for me.

nice guide. thats what i did, give em the link to the forum where they talk about now being able to see the files when trying to restore with TWRP. that would greatly help other users having that issue.

I did this, but TWRP says no mountable partitions in replaced backup. What can I do?

Just to be sure of two things...

You have multiple files and folders in your new backup directory, right? It is the contents of the zipped TWRP backup, not the zip itself.

This is a TWRP restore being performed, not a flash.

Yeah?

Yes, and I think I found it. There are 2 zip files out there with the exact same name of "StockROM - G550T1 - UVU1APF1 v6.0.1 (TMO).zip"
One has only 5 items, and does not work, I think this is the one in the OP. The other is from the post 3 or so above mine, and it has 18 files. It had the mount options, and is currently flashing.

Hope it works. Thanks for you help.

edit: worked!! Thanks!

ok, didn't work out. I didn't do anything special after getting it running. I put on my profile, installed some app updates, and toggled off oem lock in prep for reflashing SU.

Rebooted to flash SU, and FRP is back.

I guess I need to start over, should I not mess with the oem lock next time?

edit: Yes, that was it. I am a dufus I guess. the OEM unlock wording is ambiguous to me.
