your so awesome
Thank you for the kind words friend. Im trying my best to help.
Can't do OTA updates on the phone, probably cuz it is a flashed phone.
Originally a sprint phone, flashed to straight talk.

Sent from my SCH-I545 using XDA Free mobile app
Ok well then no ota for you which will possibly make you have to take a couple extra steps. If it were me, then i would delete rom manager app, and go herefirst and it should root your phone with one click without computer. If it says it worked, then immediately verify root with root checker. then immediately download supersu app and when you open app it will ask you to update binary. choose normal and when its done it will ask you to reboot. Do that and when it restarts then immediately downloadflashify app and flash twrp recovery version 2.8.7.0. Then immediately boot to recovery from flashify and make your backup there. All this should only take 20 minutes or so. Then we can proceed safely when you have this backup made. Let me know when you are done with this please.

I'm pretty sure this is just Google App attempting to open the mic for voice search, which was denied since you have it set to ignore (you must use the search app a lot, and/or Google Now). You don't use voice search, so it doesn't impact you. But voice search won't work with that permission set to ignore.

I could be wrong, but the clandestine recording and transmission of audio files would cause a battery and data hit that would be noticed at some point. Besides, they're already using whatever we type (or speak) into search and Gmail for ad targeting and that's the deal we make for using their "free" services.
Heres more evidence to support my earlier claim. sorry i have been focused on other things and forgot to get back with you...

Even though this is old news (like 10 years ago this started most privacy internet laws in the first place with the open mic scheme) im sure it is much more than most people think still.

And check out my privacy thread for more topics regarding this and more if you feel like it. anything you would like to comment on or share is welcome. Everyones opinion is respected there...

this is my phone, perhaps its incompatible for 5.1
http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=3805
idk thats same phone as i have and my wife as well. mines pebble blue, and hers is white. We both running 5.1.1. and i know other people with same phone running 5.1 as well in other threads.
but was it bought unlocked 2nd hand, bought from site you showed in screenshot, bought from sprint, or bought from another carrier? The answer to this may lead us to an answer. Also it shouldnt matter because knox is a selfish piece of crap, but is it knoxed up? Screenshot device model, baseband, kernel, build# please from "android settings-about phone" like this on my attachment below...

here are the screenshots of my phone.
Thats brand new baseband huh? from less than a month ago? threw me off at first cuz i didnt even know there was one that recent. I think its either that or hardware version thats causing issue. I see other people online with same problem as you but no solution yet. At this point i recommend getting on cyanogenmod forums and posting your problem under your device page. Hopefully they can give you an answer as to why this is happening. It wont hurt to try there while we are working on it here. Maybe a cm expert will have an answer to this new issue quickly. Im still blown away by this issue right now. When we figure it out the problem and solution should definitely be made into a thread here on XDA as other people are having same issue with no apparent solution yet. Im not giving up on this, just recommending to get a developers opinion while we are still looking into situation. Im sorry this is happening, but im proud of your passion and patience to fix it.

thank you for reading and sharing your experience! so glad that you are happier now! yes when u factory reset it was just going back to beanstalk because beanstalk replaced your stock system. when u flashed cm it replaced the system again with its own, so thats great! if you run into any bugs let me know and i can help fix them. which kernel tweak app and recovery are you using? Also, did you flash cm first then kernel? If not the dkp kernel got replaced by cm kernel when you flashed cm. If thats the case you can boot to recovery and reflash kernel, and it shouldnt need cache and dalvik wipes.
If you need help tweaking the kernel or want to know what I think works best just let me know.

Lake City,
I flashed dkp first hoping that if anything it would fix the other rom for me but it didn't lol so I flashed cm 12.1 and reflashed dkp and the gapps and I've tried changing my to. For about a month now and I've came to this thread more then once but I've had other of things work in ways they shouldn't that and I'm new to this bricked this awesome phone twice so was accepting beanstalk forever lol. Um as of right now the only problem ice seen is saying my sim card isn't in but this is sprint s3 its built in so idk I only use it with WiFi so nor being able to call anything but 911 isn't a big deal. And my flash works again my camera er works had to DL a new one cause I completely removed the one on it trying to get it to work before the selfie cam doesn't work but could be the app. I won't be able to tell ya much about the sound the speaker doesn't work and I've replaced it new I UAE Bluetooth but only for muaic .but if I spot anything I'll post and honestly I should have joined xda aa while a go but seems s3 iisnt going anywhere shes a good device
I've killed the battery twice since this worked lol poor phone

Ok so your mobile data is not working after or before flashing cm? You have sim card? Or thats just what it says? And selfie cam on camera doesnt work after or before flashing cm? And speaker doesnt work after or before flashing cm? And what do you mean you killed battery twice since? Sorry im having a hard time understanding the difference between old problems and new problems you are having. If i can understand more clear, I can help fix any new problems you are having.
Can you try using google translate so I can understand better? I really want to help make this perfect for you:D

Lake City,
Lol sorry, I'll be more specific. This model of the s3 has no sim and its saying I don't have one and that's true. No problem with the battery,it was just used that much.when I was stuck on beanstalk ROM nothing worked. And I apologize for the poor grammar.the only thing that doesn't work since going to cm, is the selfie cam .

Thanks for the response! Selfie cam works on mine, so lets start off by trying a couple easy things to narrow down the issue.
~Please screenshot your baseband version under android settings-about phone and attach to post.
~Try booting to recovery and wiping cache and dalvik again, and then reboot.
~What date is on the cm12.1 nightly build that you are using?
~Try another camera app to see if it is working on that one. not saying you should forget about problem, but this might tell us something.
~Go to android settings-mobile networks-Access point names and screenshot which one is selected. Then tap on the name of the one selected and screenshot the settings that are shown there.
~Go to android settings-apps-swipe to all apps-camera-clear cache.
~Has phone been damaged or dropped hard?

Please answer these questions and try these things first and let me know if anything worked, and if not, then we can try slightly more time consuming, yet safe things to figure it out. We should be able to fix these things, especially the selfie cam issue. Only way we cant fix sim card error is probably if it is related to hardware damage. Thanks

You need 10 posts first to attach. im gonna be without internet for a couple days at least probably. Moving and i always run into problems with wifi hookup. I will be able to help with solution then. First thing that comes to mind is that maybe you flashed the nightly for another phone carriers s3 that does have sim card. That is if none of the other things i suggested worked. Make sure you flashed the D2SPR version of cm. I will check on you when i get back and continue to try to solve this issue. Good luck in the meantime.

Lake City,
Ill triple check but I'm almost certain I got right one but like I said I was stuck on beanstalk every time I tried another ROM even ones that I used before all got stuck after the optimising apps part. Its still not to big a deal because this phones only used with WiFi and I can make WiFi callz..however I have noticed a bigger problem I think it's just a pain but when I shut my phone off it won't turn back on and boot up I have to go to recovery and reboot to get her going. Honestly me Being new to this I prolly altered something somewhere during a I gotta customize everything faze. But thanks I appreciate your knowledge

when u boot to recovery, wipe cache and dalvik then reboot and maybe this solves bad reboot.problem. if not u might consider a clean install. are u running dkp or xposed now? just wondering

ok thats right one. but do u have sprint service or any other mobile data service? i noticed on mine for a brief second after boot it says no sim card too. but then when it sets apn for my mobile data service it disappears within 1 second. if u do have service for mobile data then i think we need to find the right apn settings for ur carrier to stop that notification. let me know

edit: did utry clearing cache and dalvik from recovery to stop the boot issue?
