I just purchased a SCH-i545l from Bluegrass Cellular here in Kentucky. Bluegrass is a regional company that works off of their own LTE towers as well as Verizon's Nationwide towers. I love this phone, however, I am lost with it when it comes to rooting it or any types of software modifications because of its small supply and demand. Can anyone help?

What the build number in settings->about phone? If it's the same or similar to Verizon I'm sure the same rooting method would work for you.

Same with me as well. I've asked around, seems like its not a very common phone (since being an off brand version) to be rooting at this moment.
I am hoping this is just too new at the moment. I wish I knew someone in service who could leak me the stock files. Then I could flash some vzw kernels and still be able to restore stock if it didn't work.

It's a very new variant of the phone, it was wi-fi verified at the end of July and it only popped up earlier this month...

Sadly it looks like the phone has a different base version (MG6) and hopefully something similar is released when 4.3 arrives in October.

Waiting game at this point....

Kernel and Platform are already separated inside the file I posted the link too. It also includes read me files for each on how to compile them. I would download it and play around with it for a bit.

I have access to Linux. I am busy lately but I will download this a play with it when i get a chance. I have another idea and I'm wondering if there are any obvious flaws so here it is. Before compiling the system partition, add 'su' to '/bin'. Then to have root the only thing we need to do is Odin/ Heimdall the modified system partition. Although I have compiled software for Linux I have never compiled Android before so does anyone see a fatal flaw with that plan?

well i tried but couldnt figure it out. im not really dev-savvy. so if anyone wants to download the sch-i545L source to compile a kernel and possibly even inject root or make it easier to root (if possible?..) i would donate to the cause. im sure us with the 545L variants would appreciate a helping hand

I've downloaded the source from samsung and now I'm downloading the 4.2.2 base. Wish me luck:) lol. I've never built android before but it doesn't look too much different from any other source code so far.

Good Luck! There seem to be quite a few of us out there with this device that would really appreciate root/rom support!

If you get a rooted rom or a kernel for us please share! I'm sure if we had a kernel we could flash roms then kernel, or flash vzw s4 kernel for root methods and then flash back. Kernel would be the optimal provision

Kernel Crossing

I have compiled a kernel using the Samsung source and the running kernel configuration from my i545L. I have not tested it but I have no reason to believe that it is any different than the kernel running on my phone. I am not sure when I will get around to testing it but if anyone tries it please post back here.

I have not located a pit file yet.
Link to stock compiled kernel - Odin format:
http://d-h.st/tcl

I don't know how to disable root block so that the motochopper root method will work again but that is something I will be looking into.

And finally the necessary un-pleasantries... I am not responsible for anything you do to your phone and I don't provide any warranty with this kernel.
