Rename file. Remove .md5 & odin work just fine.

on the tar.md5 file I get a md5 error binary is invalid with odin. tar file is corrupted I think.

Just rename the file and remove the .md5 like he said. Works beautifully. Just rooted successfully!

so now that I have root on my active how do I edit the apn's to allow me to be able to use my mobile hotspot without having a hotspot plan? As for busybox use the busybox app made by jrummy the other one doesn't seem to work anymore. And as for wifi use the build.prop editor app and change ro.securestorage.support to false. You can't update the binary of supersu, I found that out when I rooted my s7 edge for sprint back in march and to this day there's still no fix for that on the qualcomm s7's (including s7 active) or s7 edge's.

I did not. If you have windows 7-10 it should automatically install them anyway. Unless ODIN doesn't see your phone, you don't need to install them.

However, it would appear that you can just OTA update to PK2, factory reset, and then root to get a clean root. I just am not sure if you'll be able to restore to PG7 or PI2 if something goes wrong. Can anyone weigh in on this?

im not in the US, so cannot do OTA etc, now we/you have root, can we now obtain a dump of PK2 ?

I did on my brand new gaming laptop but I just switched to my desktop and it installed without any problems then I went a head with the rooting process with my desktop. What I thought was weird was the same custom odin I used on my pos desktop wouldn't pick up my phone eventhough it was in download mode on my brand new gaming laptop but when I tried it again on my pos desktop odin worked fine and picked up my phone no problem. The weird thing is they both run the exact same build of windows 10 only difference is my gaming laptop runs windows 10 home and my pos desktop runs windows 10 pro but I don't know why that would make any difference on any of this stuff though.
