As we said in previous posts the bug we are referring affects standby times not endurance so much . 3to4 hours is not so ok . I have about the same now but in nougat I was getting 5to6 sot. And after 24 hours I had about 40 % left now I charge every 20hours .

That you and the rest. I am ok. Previously on nougat I have 4 to 4.5 hours sot with full day 4g or wifi. Now is slightly worse off but i am fine with it.

You are asking for more sot but I was referring to standby .
You have 46% after 9 hours unplugged and it's a beast ???
Try to not touch your phone after a full charge and you will see how many hours it lasts ... that's the problem

Hi, I noticed that my Oreo (I upgraded to Oreo just 3 days ago) battery drain had gone after turning off background usage of Android OS and Outlook (if you have).

Notice when you open battery usage, wait until it shows Android OS, press it and turn off its "App background usage" or something like that toggle, same with Outlook.
After doing it, it does not take effect instantly but after using for some hours and had some full charges, the drain had gone, before it was draining 100% fast to 97% in less than 30mins while screen is turned off, now it does not anymore, just the same with what I had with Nougat. (still 100% like after around 1hr or more with default mode - optimized).

You would think that disabling Android OS background would give bad results - I thought so too but it doesn't. They would not enable turning it off it would, won't they? As well as Outlook, I use Outlook app for my work and thought turning off background processing won't give me notifications anymore but it still did!.. I wonder what kind of background it suppresses as it it still updates automatically as long as i am connected to the internet whether data or wifi.

I hope this works for you or for anyone as well. Just remember effect on mine is not instant, I had like 2 cycle charges before I noticed the effect.

Thanks,
gliz

We are not supposed to close every service to have a decent battery life. This is not a smartphone . They have to fix bugs so the device optimize battery . We keep waiting for update

That's right, this should be fixed with a permanent appropriate solution by them.

When I read that someone has SOT 4hous + after 36hour of using and still 40% , I'm sad.
My SOT is max 3 - 3,5h. When is mobile in standby it's cost 0,8% of battery per hour. When is displey on It's 1% per 2,5min. So when I unplug mobile in 10pm, at 5am when I wake up is battery on 94% , when I get to work at 6am it is 90% (with 3min SOT) and after work at 3pm is battery approx 60% and SOT 1h10min.
- VolLTE off, only 3G/2G, 1mail sync every 4hours, resolution FHD+, bluetooth on, wifi on, locationon - economical mode(wifi and mobile site), AOD on...

I would like to have also SOT 4h after 30+hour of using and have still 40% :(

as stupid as this sounds, do you have an sdcard installed in phone. After taking out sdcard, I get better battery drain to under .7% an hr

Now there is a new firmware out (CRED) released for Germany and other countries. Let's hope this LTE bug is gone . Is there anyone who have it installed ? Maybe could share the changelog.

Didn't it drain battery at night when on airplane mode ???

I've seen this posted many times over the years but I could never figure out why. Why in the hell would you turn your phone on airplane mode overnight!!?? If you dont want someone calling or messaging, turn on do not disturb.... Here I am once again, some one asked about airplane mode......This just seems odd, as you phone updates and does a backup at night or at least mine always did. Not criticizing just curious what the appeal is of making your device useless during that period of time by turning on airplane mode. Best thing to do is turn off all background data you don't need to use on each app and to not have FACEBOOK installed/enabled, use the browser!! I had a large drain when that app was enabled. I can routinely get 4hr sot and more on times. There has been a battery hit on this god dang oreo though. Nougat would yield me 6-7 hrs sot!! Hope you can fix your battery life. reset your phone and dont restore apps, do them a couple at a time and leave it to see if drain still exists. then add more apps and repeat until you find the culprit. (i have dex and bixby disabled along with a few other apps)

I need airplane mode because I leave my phone next to me (Because I use it as alarm) and don't want the antenna to burn my mind during the night . Does it seem too odd for you ?
I am referring to a specific bug that came with Oreo. It's not my setup but the firmware itself .

Good news ! The latest CRED update fixes the battery a lot and no airplane mode drain ! At last after 3 updates and 3 months with battery drain ,they figured out how to fix it .

bug is always present….
try only with gsm active in standby, screen-off, after a night : battery drain is still present ! from 1 % /h. to 2% /h.
If i switch from 4g/LTE to 3G ( data connection OFF , only gsm ) , battery doesn't drain ( 0,3 % / h. )

    Hello !
    I've been s8 for three months and I've never had any particular problems, I've upgraded to CRC7 (second update of Oreo) and I've already got twice the phone with a flat battery:
    last week in the morning I found it at 1% from 35% the night before (during the night only the gsm network was active, everything else off); when in doubt I did a factory data reset by installing only minimal applications (FB, whatsup and little else) and I installed the Accubattery application to monitor the battery.
    Last night put away (active gsm only) at 65% of residual charge and this morning after 10 hours it was 5%: 60% of charge consumed in one night.
    Android does not report any abnormal consumption of any application .... it seems an anomalous battery drain
    I enclose battery data screenshots; is not that the new Oreo update is buggy? or could the battery or the phone power circuit or the radio part that consume excessively might have a problem? Before bringing it to service I wanted your opinion and in case I wanted to try to put back the CRB7 version of Oreo .... how do I do it? do I lose the guarantee in this case?
    i'vre tried with beaming service but clicking three dots top-right corner of app info screen not available for this app : three dots top-right corner are for all the apps
    Do you have a drain simillar to mine ? Help me please !!
    I have the exact same problem as you and many others. I have tried various things to solve it and I concluded on that the modem firmware has a serious bug . airplane mode consumes more battery than on cellular. To make sure we are talking about the same thing please try removing your SIM card and let it all night . By the morning you have to be -2% of the battery . With the SIM inside now you have to drain 15-20% . If thats the case for you , you make sure that its not a faulty device and there is no drain from your setup (like an application draining etc .. in this case factory reset should fix it).
    Cinfirm your findings and lets hope they will release update soon.

    Well,
    After all I'm a lucky guy, because my battery life is great on my G950FD.
    I can get an average of 30Hours of working battery!
    Please check some details bellow:

    NO ROOT
    AOD = Off

    INFO SW:
    OREO 8.0.0
    samsung experience = 9.0
    baseband = G950FXXU1CRC7
    compilation= R16NW.G950FXXU1CRC7
    SW service provider = SAOMC_SM-G950F_OXM_BRI_OO_0021
    ce0571715ea6234ec0d
    BRI/BRI/BRI

    security patch = 1 of march 2018

    I can't say it's perfect . It's near perfect. From 30 hours standby you got only 2:50 SOT . Your battery curve should be somewhat horizontal (especially with aod off) when on standby but it keeps dropping even without using it . With nougat and this usage I would have 30-35% battery left

    This how they make you feel your device needs an upgrade to their latest s9 . Imagine how bad it would be if S8 had better battery life than S9 .... everyone even now would buy S8 for half the price .
    After a ton of messages in forums they were forced to fix the airplane mode but now you need to prove the bug which is more difficult ...

    I think someone could try porting the nougat modem/radio package to current build and check for standby drain, if this works. But a root is required and I dont want to root my phone for this.
