Hey guys

Using two SC-02C will be able to rip the original kernel it seems.

http://ar3r3.blogspot.com/2011/06/samsung-galaxy-s-ii-sc-02crooted.html

in rooted sc-02c put Su superuser.apk etc into mmcblk0p9 (/system)
dump mmcblk0p9 (/system)

then convert it to Odin3 image
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1081239

burn on the stock SC-02C

u will have root access in ur stock kernel of SC-02C and can dump everything u want.
SICK.

anxiously awaiting a few things:

1. stock complete image, ODIN flashable with everything.
2. stock ODIN image with stock kernel, root, stock baseband/GPS.
3. CWM flashable ZIP files for SC02C baseband/GPS for using after flashing a brewed ROM so our reception doesn't suck.

I'll wait here for someone with the time and skills to post up a ready made kernel /lazy

Hopefully one of you capable individuals will figure out the baseband and gps issues too. I hate having a "special" GS2.

that is a great find. If I get it right, I just need to unzip and use the TAR file with Odin, choosing the file on PDA?
if it's the 111684.zip file you're talking about, I tried to flash the contents of that file via ODIN yesterday and it left me with a red screen of death on my phone saying that it failed flashing. I had to ODIN to litening and then recovery.

Hoping to see some progress with root on stock kernel soon!....

Can someone PLEAAAAAASE send me their 2-6 partitions so I can rip apart the GPS and get it into a flashable zip? THANKS!!!

I've got a working SC02C baseband if anyone needs it... Thanks to a hookup from XDA!

If you have instructions on how to pull the partition, I will.

I'd like the baseband if it'll allow me to flash other ROMs and still keep signal/gps

hopefully I can get this GPS thing worked out. Just waiting on anyone with a working GPS on an SC02C to send me dd dumps of their 2 through 6 partitions...

Code:
su -
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p2 of=/mnt/sdcard/mmcblk0p2.img
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p3 of=/mnt/sdcard/mmcblk0p3.img
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p4 of=/mnt/sdcard/mmcblk0p4.img
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p5 of=/mnt/sdcard/mmcblk0p5.img
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p6 of=/mnt/sdcard/mmcblk0p6.img

well

I flashed it aswell and it works fine, I got one reboot during installing app

I ripped /system and created factoryfs.img to burn with ODIN3.
you can flash with ODIN3 to your stock SC-02C and get root access with su.

I can share you stock Kernel image if you need.

interesting. I flashed it and it gave me a red screen of death.
Could be that you do not have stock SC-02C?

Could you please share all that you have, that would be awesome!!

Yeah my phone is no longer stock, it's an SC02C that I rooted, flashed cognition on, lost my SC02C baseband, put the baseband back, ODIN'd to litening, etc.. etc.. I've got no backup of my stock rom or kernel :(

I'd like to figure out a way to run the rom of the day, while keeping stock kernel, stock baseband and having root.

It would be nice if you could share both the kernel and the system image so some of us early rooters could make a brief stop at near stock. I ripped most of the docomo stuff out after rooting and now I wish that I had backed it up first.

Thank you kind sir.

I did the following:

recovered back to a stock backup (stock ROM with root kernel installed)
flashed partitions 2-6 and 8

Still no GPS.

GPS drivers must be on another partition or in the stock kernel. I dunno. Hopefully some kind hearted soul will make a backup of the bone stock image that we can flash.
