If there are any questions/unclear parts that you need translated again, let me know (I'll try to check this page every day).
Galaxy S4 (SC-04E) Rooting method/procedure
This time, I will be introducing the rooting method/procedure for the Galaxy S4 (SC-04E).
The Galaxy S4(SC-04E) root is, like the Galaxy S3(SC-06D) root, made by HomuHomu’s group (kbc-developers). I’d like to extend my thanks to them.
Warning
Rooting your phone will invalidate any manufacturer warranty. In addition, data may be erased and/or your device may no longer reboot. This user (the original poster) takes no responsibilityl for this. The following instructions are taken under your own responsibility and understanding.
In addition, inside this tool (not sure what he is referring to here) there are some apps that cannot be moved. Please read the tool download comment page below. As the kernel will be overwritten, there will be some apps that cannot be moved. tita (?) is one example. In addition, even if there are apps that cannot be moved, do not report them (they are beyond the scope and will not be addressed).
Finally, there is no support for using the root program to overwrite the kernel. Eve if your apps fail to work and/or your device fails to start, do not contact kbc-developers, as the following procedure is undertaken at your own risk.
Preparations
1) Turn on Galaxy S4(SC-04E) USB debugging. For information on how to turn on USB debugging, please refer to the article “How to enable Galaxy S4(SC-04E) developer options and turning on USB debugging”.
When asked whether to allow USB debugging, tap OK.
2) From (XDA forums will not let new users post outside links; refer to the original article for the link), download the Galaxy S4(SC-04E) root tool.
Once the file (called ****_SC04E-0.0.1.zip) has finished downloading (if the file is named differently, please rename it), place the zip file in a file directory path that does not have any spaces. In my case, I placed the zip file into a folder called “SC04E” on my C:\ drive.
Next, extract the zip file.
A folder called “****_SC04E-0.0.1” will appear (if the folder is named differently, please rename it).
Procedure to root the Galaxy S4(SC-04E)
We will now proceed to root the Galaxy S4(SC-04E).
Double click on the ****_SC04E-0.0.1 folder.
Double click “****Me.bat”
The root program will start. Press Enter or any other key.
The necessary files will be extracted, so please wait. Once a message showing “To continue, press any key” is displayed, press any key to continue.
Going towards the end, the Galaxy S4(SC-04E) will automatically rleboot.
After the Galaxy S4(SC-04E) reboots, it will ask “Do you want to install Superuser?” Tap “Yes”.
Once tapped, you will be taken to a Superuser page on Google Play; on this page, we will install it (the application).
Once completed, we will try to install Titanium Backup. A message requesting superuser permissions will show up, so tap “Allow”.
After clicking “allow” a message showing “asking for root permissions” will show up, followed by a “unfortunately, you do not meet system requirements” error. Titanium Backup cannot be used.
Starting up the Superuser app, Titanium Backup has full permissions, but Titanium Backup cannot be used.
Let’s try using Quick Boot. Tap “Reboot.”
After giving superuser permissions, it (the phone/system?) immediately rebooted.
In my case, I could not start Titanium Backup, but was able to use Quick Boot.
Trying to change to SuperSU
Changing to SuperSU will allow Titanium Backup to be used, so I tried changing to SuperSU.
Using SuperSU carries the risk of incurring errors. Please undertake the following at your own risk.
Install SuperSU.
After starting SuperSU, it will request a SU binary update, so tap “continue”
For the Galaxy S4(SC-04E), there is no custom recovery yet, so tap “regular”
A message asking for Superuser permissions will appear, tap “allow”
A message will show up asking to uninstall the Superuser app. Tap “cancel”
We can now use SuperSU
Let’s try to start Titanium Backup. A screen requesting SuperSU will appear; tap “allow”
Once done, Titanium Backup started up normally.
Let’s try to perform a backup.
The backup process went normally.
If you use SuperSU, you can use Titanium Backup, however, all the actions are not guaranteed, and you undertake them at your own risk.
This ends the Galaxy S4(SC-04E) root method/protocol.
