Hello, today my DHD fell on concrete and my screen is now cracked. :(
Everything works normally, even the display and even the touch layer. What do I need to buy to replace? I hope that it's not the display or the digitizer.

//okay, I have done some reading, and is this the part I'm looking for? http://www.htcrepairparts.com/touch...-hd-a9191-htc-ace-htc-p-3289.html?language=en

I thought there is was a protective screen above the digitizer :/

It sounds like the glass on which the digitiser is mounted is cracked. If it was the LCD, the colours would bleed and it would be unusable. I would say the digitiser is the piece you need.

Thanks for the reply. Are there any disassembly videos around? Can it be done at home?
Dont know about the dissasembly guides but I have tried to replace digitizer on my Diamond and Diamond 2. On the Diamond 2 everything went quite smooth - no problems (if you are very carefull). On my Diamond the LCD and Digitizer were kind of glued together - and I broke the LCD while trying to separate them.

I found this for the Desire. This looks very much like when I did the Diamond 2 - and if our DHD is like the Desire then I think you have a chance.

Good luck.

having the same problem with my Desire HD - there are a few cracks in the display after slightly stepping on it :-( so I went to a few shops in Germany and asked for repair...
Some of them were stating the repair will be quite expensive, as Display and Glass plate are glued to eachother...
In my case it would explain, why the class is not falling of...
So also for me it is that the touch is fully operational even where I have the cracks
The display is OK as well
So I still have no clue where to get this Unit (Glassplate+Display) I live in Ireland so ordering online would be the best option...
Thanks in advance for any information

Edit: good movie - HTC Desire HD Disassembly Video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JfatoeWbMRk

theres a diassembally guide on youtube, just search for it.

if its going to cost too much you might be able to claim a new one on your home contents insurance.

Those are pretty expensive! just curious but how have your screens cracked? they seem pretty durable to me
I wasn't sleeping at home... when I woke up I was confused... put my foot out of the bed..... I heard the slight sound of a glasplate cracking - lift my foot - it was to late...
multiple cracks over whole display with its centre in the bottom right corner
so I have about 15% of the glas cracked that I'd call unusable - touch works anyway but its hard to i.e. read a text on this part of display...
in general it's not too bad and disturbes not much - getting used to it

I've just had same problem, dropped my phone on concrete and the glass screen cracked. LCD was ok.

After hours of research there are hardly any guides on how to do this and there is only 1 you tube video on how to disassemble the desire hd and that is not too good.

I bought a digitzer and tried to repair it myself but found it almost impossible to remove the old digitzer from the lcd without damaging it. You need a special oven to melt the glue, a few people said a hair dryer works as well but it did not do much for me. I took it into a local phone shop but they stuggled to do this as well,

I ended up having to get a new lcd as well and now have the phone all sorted and working again.

Cost me about £100 in total

dont try to dissamble it by yourself. you will lose your phone totally.

i watched the youtube sissambling video and i must say it is hilarious ....

in a certain step you have to put in a oven?

The DHD is rumored to be one of, if not THE most difficult HTC phones to service. I know it might be expensive, but you probably would be better off paying a professional to do it.

I ordered a TOUCH SCREEN (DIGITIZER) for HTC DESIRE HD A9191 /HTC Ace (HTC) for about 43 € including shipping and for sure I will try to fix it myself :) I'm optimistic!!!
Anyway, if someone have experiance in doing this any advice is very welcome. Thank you!!!
For the part, when the display have to be heated up to 60 degree, I had this plan: either you have an oven you can adjust the temperature exactelly. As |I do not have this I got a kind of thin pan with a flat ground... there I place the display on it... than I take a huge pot fill it with water and heat it up messuring the temperature of the water. Now I place the pan into the pot - let it "swim" on the water. with a bit of care, to not make the display wet, this is easy way to make sure you do not heat it to much - temperature of the water is easy to control....
comments are welcome
Thanks, der Matte

My friend has a cracked screen..I guess the LCD is broken since all the colors were leaking..
now it has become entirely unusable since there's very little display that can actually be seen
