Screen discoloration

Hi,

My ~2-months-old DX is starting to show slight variations in screen brightness. This really only shows on uniform backgrounds, but there's two bright spots: Both are centered horizontally, one is just on the top half of the screen, the other on the bottom half. Does anybody else see this?

I haven't done anything out of the ordinary with it, other than a temporary addiction to Temple Run, and I'm not really a heavy user. I haven't been able to really make a decent picture out of it, but I shall try again.

Well first thing you can try is checking how it reacts when you change screen brightness... You should relock bootloader, install stock recovery and flash RUU and get it to the maintenance center... They might help you...

Screen brightness doesn't really matter, although it made my camera clip. However, it is still visible to the human eye. I managed to get a reasonable image by using a "Flashlight" app that let me choose the color of the "flashlight". I set it to about 75% gray, but with full screen backlight. It's even more visible when I invert the image - see the attached file.

I'm on stock firmware, stock recovery and relocked bootloader; I really don't see how this is firmware related. The one catch is that I got my phone over the internet, and the return policy is "Send in phone first, and then we'll see if we even think it is a valid claim - that's why I was hoping for a confirmation :)

I can see the marks you have mentioned. this maybe a manufacturer defect where the the digitizer is pressing too much on the lcd overlay due to uneven adhesive while in manufacture. any uneven adhesive will show signs like this when the device is screwed tight and the pressure is not uniform as a results of what i said above.

second reason maybe the screen along with lcd and digitizer is defect and needs replacement.

I sent off my phone to be serviced. It's supposed to be fixed within two weeks - I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Actually, I contacted HTC before I submitted it. After scolding me for unlocking it  they said it would be covered provided the mainboard didn't need to be swapped.

As promised:

I got my phone back yesterday; the display module has been replaced. This fixed my problem (Although the new screen has a bit more backlight bleed than before; can't have it all I suppose), and it was covered by warranty.
