Screen on time

Lord Darth, bow is it possible to stretch that SOT? Tell us the secret behind please..
Well, I don't have a lot installed yet, though I don't game, or use social media apps, the big battery drainers.

A few texts, xda'ing and a little browsing is all I really do.

I bet it shrinks a little as I install more. Especially my Moto 360 stuff. That takes some juice for sure.

But I'm fairly impressed for such a small battery. I am still getting a battery mod though. :)

I get about 4h SOT when I unplug in the morning and use it throughout the day.
If I charge it in the evening and unplug it. The battery drains with a rate of about 1% / hour. So I start the day with under 90%.
I only get about 3-3.5h screen on time in that case.

I am on the latest Nougat Update and I don't have a battery mod.

Hello! I hardly get 3h SOT :crying:. I have tried everything. I am rooted and tried Greenify, downclocking processor, use lowest brightness... I always get discharging rate about 25-30%/hour when display is on. Running stock 7.1.1, the same on 7.0. I would appreciate your analysis of my screenshots.

Eskamonter your problem is based on the bad signal from the telephone network, that makes the motoz constantly looking for a new cell where it provides a better service. Sorry for my under english regards

While only available through Verizon in the US, the Z Force was the flagship. The regular Z really requires a battery mod for decent better life.

It would be great if SoT would be better, would be good to know how average my discharge rates are.

Code:
DozeModeSummary:
ID | Name | Count / Hr | Seconds / Hr | Total Num | Total Duration | Max Duration
0 | light | 5.20 | 1878.13 | 75 | 7h31m8.089s | 16m41.845s

During the day the phone went to "light" doze mode only. Even if my SoT is around 2hr, doze is "off" for almost 7 hours. (so the phone is active for a lot more time than I'm actually using it.)

The biggest consumers are system apps, don't know what this UNACCOUNTED can be?

I was getting 2-2.5h SOT with stock 7.1.1 and around 2% screen off per hour, so I decided to try some custom rom, got even lower SOT and 3%/hour screen off. So I flashed stock again (twice) now I'm getting around 0.6%/hour and insane 6-7 hours SOT, I think something went wrong during ota from 7 to 7.1.1 on the first time, now I'm really enjoying my device.

Could you please let us know, what did you do exactly? On what firmware are you now? And what device do you have?

Hello there, I have a Brazilian version of XT-1650-003, I was running stock, unrooted, locked bootloader until I decided to test lineage OS, even worse battery life, so I flashed "XT1650-03_GRIFFIN_RETBR_NPL25.86-30_cid50_subsidy-DEFAULT_regulatory-DEFAULT_CFC" using this tutorial here https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-z/help/installing-stock-rom-moto-z-t3617759, didnt work the first time because I was using a non RETBR rom, so I downloaded the right rom, flashed it again and tried to "fastboot oem lock", somehow got a bootloop, so I flashed the rom again, OTA until last version, no errors and great battery life so far.

Hope that helps!

Just to share, I struggled to reach 4 hours SoT before (unroot & locked), but now I can easily reach 5 hours mark after latest update which contain September security patch (same as above). Seems latest update is a good one.

But still never reach 6 hours SoT though, seems impossible for me and this phone ?

I'm on the same latest firmware, but I have no better SoT, unfortunately. He got 6 hours with 3% remaining battery only, but I would love to have at least 4. Currently I barely have 2,5hours...

That's why I'm thinking on this reflash, or at least, a factory reset again.

Usually 3-4 hours SoT on latest firmware. And sometimes 2,5 or 5 hours in a rare case.
But now I just slap the battery mod all the times and never worry about battery anymore.

I'd totally go for a reflash, that is exactly what I was facing before ref lashing everything.
Yeah, I'm seriously thinking about it, but would like to get more feedback about it (more experiences).
I definitely want to keep my bootloader locked. Isn't a factory reset enough, once I'm on the latest fimrware? Are you sure that all your settings/apps remained the same like before?

Any luck my friend? Just got another update and the standby time is even better. Usually I get home with 35% battery, after the update im getting like 75
