Do you guys have any idea if the resolution has any effect on SOT or battery?
Well yes of course it has. Sot or screen on time will be affected by changing the res from full hd+ to wqhd+, cutting out 'bout an hour or more of your sot, depends on your usage. The standby time won't be affected. But that depends on your usage, I'm keeping mine during a normal day on fhd+ but if I go on a netflix session or youtube, I'm switching the entertainment mode.

It's amazing how much we actually use our phones in a given day, especially when we watch "videos"! Rate this thread to express how many hours of screen-on time you can get on the Samsung Galaxy S8 before depleting the battery.

Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
The one i got till today was 10 hours on s8+ with nx kernel

9 hours SOT?

I saw 9 hours SOT on my girlfriend's s8 and was dumbfounded. No custom ROMs, power saving modes, completely stock s8. My s9+ gets 5 1/2 hours SOT on a good day. Any explanations?

My mom's S8 (was mine, gave it to her) gets 7h on most days. It also has all of two apps on it. Has a new battery and a decent CPU bin, but otherwise nothing special.

Owned by S8 (US, unlocked) since June 2017. I used to get good battery life, like 6 hours SOT. Since earlier this year though the battery life has been steadily declining. I now get 2-3 hours SOT on a full charge. I've tried factory resets, running GSam and BetterBatteryStats with ADB permissions, and at one point sent it to Samsung and they fixed a "USB 3.0 Connection Fail," whatever that means. I can't find any rogue apps or wakelocks that are constantly draining battery. I've installed Naptime but I don't think it helps.

Has anyone found a solution to persistent, inexplicable battery problems?

The problem is Android. With every software update the battery seems worse. I've had my S8 since march 2018 and the SOT also went down from 6h to about 4-5 h.

NO. The problem is Samsung.
I have a lot of phones, including Nokia 8, Nokia 7+, OP6. These two are under Pie update, and I can confirm that they have 10% more juice at the end of the day.
Each time with Samsung, their battery are worse and worse. From 5h SOT when you buy it to 3h after a couple of months. It's abnormal.

My S8's idle battery drain improved drastically with a factory reset. You could try and uninstall unnecessary apps and perform cache wipe too.

8 hours sot

I've been using smartphones since my HTC xv6800.
And I've never had a better battery in a non-plus device than this S8!
The best I've gotten so far is 8 hours of screen on time (see screenshot).
I'm in the US and here are my specs, settings, and charging routine:

SPECS:
Samsung S8 Xfinity Mobile (shipped brand new)
Qualcomm CDMA
Android 8.0 (what it shipped with)
NOT rooted (but I have used ADB commands to issue write secure settings to some apps)
NO Samsung battery saver modes are turned on and NO battery saver apps are installed

SETTINGS:
Screen off after 1 minute
Screen resolution set to HD (lowest possible)
Bluetooth off (used sparingly)
Wifi on (50% of the day)
Data on (10% of the day)
Location set to high accuracy
Always on display entirely off (I use ACdisplay instead)
Video enhancer off
All advanced features are off
I have 211 total apps installed
Samsung dark theme installed
Face ID and fingerprint sensor both off

CHARGING ROUTINE:
I charge it overnight, every night (usually 12am-7am)
I never charge with the phone on, and only charge with the phone powered entirely off
I never charge it during the day because I never need to

I have a very bad SoT duration on my s8.
I have installed greenify with those useful xposed features enabled and I limited the wakelocks and alarms on almost every user apps, but still get 3-4 hrs SoT.

I stayed updated with every new release untill recently when i realized my SOT whas under 5h when my battery was under 10%.
I went down to Alexis 5.5.1 rom with latest velocity kernel v11 and saw that my SOT improved to 8h which i got when i bought the phone in 2018.
Conclusion: every software update drains more battery.

Since I installed the android Pie beta3 update I started monitoring the SoT and noticed it is very poor. I think I had the same even before intstalling Pie.
I get only 3h SoT and the screen is the second in the list:
Android System 16%
Bluetooth 14%
Screen 13%

...

I'm using the regular s8 duos, SOT was around 6-7 h with moderate use one android 8.0 oreo and , i installed the 9.0 pie one ui beta currently on beta 3 the SOT has decreased drastically, now i get 3-4.5h of SOT.
So i'm wondering if the battery life will be better when the official update arrives or it's just another cheeky move to make me upgrade my phone or does the pie version drains battery faster in general ?
Is any one here experiencing the same because i will try the beta 4 if the battery keeps on dropping i think i will downgrade to 8.0 .

Settings used in both 8.0 and 9.0 :
Medium power saving mode
Cpu reduced to 70%
Fhd +
No always on display
40% of the day on 3g
Location mostly off
Charged overnight
Storage status 44.05/56 gb filled.
What i usually use it for:
40% opening pdf files
40% on social media
20% gaming

Is that the official ONE UI or you flashed yourself?
And secondly, OneUI helped with battery improvement or not?
I installed the one ui beta from xda on the s8 and it decreased battery life drastically , i don't know if the official update will bring back the solide battery life on that i was getting on 8.0 oreo with the same moderate use
