My battery life was great until that pos android pie update samsung pushed. I honestly feel like it was done on purpose but who knows, the UI and battery before was so much better. Now I have to root but Id lose alot of my cool features like secure folder and the like.
I agree i think they do it like apple.
Just swapped the battery for a brand new one.
Guess what. No difference in battery life.

I factory reset my phone and that did the trick, while I dislike the new UI, its growing on me. To be completely honest though, since launch of the S8 I still love this phone more than any other. I am tempted to get the S9 only because its a bit cheaper and for the fingerprint scanner position. 1st world problems.

Okay so here's a question..

Is anyone using there phone to full potential, all features active, all settings on maximum, every app they want installed, nothing disabled...

and getting more than 3-4 hours SOT?

Valid question, I use my phone full everything all the time and that´s about rigth with the sot times I get, never put much attention to it as I feel my battery performs just the way it has always has been, no worse no better. I think the may update did bring some huge improvements as I have read a couple of threads indicating this but Im on build with april´s base so I´m yet to experience any boosts. Slds,

I swapped my battery just a week ago with a replacement from ifixit. I do have everything at high power UHD resolution, Bluetooth is permanently on because of my connection to gear S3. Only disabled the Facebook and Gmail app. Installed a lot of apps. That's all. The maximum SOT I get with this new battery is 4h. Hope this helps.
Honestly I am a bit disappointed, cuz my original battery started to shut off randomly and had only around 3h of SOT. With new battery I got 1h+ not what I was expecting though.
Cheers

Edit: forgot to mention, display brightness is at 50% most of the time.

Heating at normal use

Idk really is this the right thread for this but I have issue really strange.I recently about week ago Update phone on May Update,Pie...everything was fine...but yesterday my phone from 15 % battery drop to 2 % and suddenly he just turns off.Ok,no big deal...maybe new Update or something.I put a charger turn the phone on,and he start to heat ( I am using Droid Info, and battery was on 39 percent,I had this issue for the last few days ago). But the BIG issue is when I charge the phone, start to use him normaly...browser chatting nothing special he start to heat up up to 38 percent, and he was really hot woww He was never acting like that,I used to playing games a lot and never he hot like this.Idk what to do,so normally use he goes in 5 to 10 minutes to 38 percent,I need to turn off internet and lock him so he will cool down.So can you help me somehow until June Update comes up...And yes,I am really thinking about LightROM,battery life is horrible

That sounds about right to me! My battery from new used to get about 4 hours now two years later it gets about 3:30 hours SOT.

Iv constantly used everything at maximum settings with no compromise other than auto screen brightness.

I unplug my phone at 8am and it usually gets to %15 at about 10pm so it's fine for me!

Nice to see some actual real results rather than these "I get 300 hours SOT" posters that use their phones as nothing more than a dumbed down paperweight. ?

I have also noticed the same issue when battery remains 20%, it starts draining like hell and starts heating.
And that time I feel like throw away and buy some other brand !

Yeah. The only I don't have enabled is sync. I unplug my phone the moment it gets to 100%, get 5-7 hours SOT. With standby I can get 10hrs standby 3-4hrs SOT

Nice little device. Bought one for next to nothing, and wow, the S8 is something alright. Swapped to U1 fw ofc- cause who wants the magenta boot, right? As I was saying, battery life is great. Not surprised tho, both the v30 and Z2F are already known for endurance (with the 835 being the common denominator). Buh bye Note10, it was nice knowing ya.

The S8 (SD)'s battery life has normalized since day one (a few weeks for me), and content is not quite the proper term to reflect my experience. I definitely made the right call. And to those that know of the matter being referenced, don't sell/trade your S8. Opportunities to get this perf/price ratio are far and few between. It still picks at my head, talk about luck.

In any event, debloating was done, in addition to the use of swift to acquire black themes in a multitude of apps.

My battery is trash lmao

It's amazing how much we actually use our phones in a given day, especially when we watch "videos"! Rate this thread to express how many hours of screen-on time you can get on the Samsung Galaxy S8 before depleting the battery.

Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
My battery is very trash it doesn't even last 4 hours
