Battery drains like crazy

Hey guys, I hope you can help me with my problem....

My S8 ist 5 days old, hardly any apps on it, and the battery drains like crazy. I can't make it through a full day...

Yesterday, I left the house a 7am with 89% battery, and reached 55% by 10am with 1hr 50min of screen on time. No heavy usage, whatsapp and google maps (no navigation, just checking where I was), phone was in medium saving mode for the whole time. At around 1:30pm I plugged the phone in with 32% and 2 hrs of screen on...

So far the phone has really been a disappointment for me. I come from an iPhone 6s Plus, which would easily last 1 1/2 days for me...

I will post screenshots of my stats later during the day. I unplugged my phone 2 hrs ago with 100%, right now I am at 85% with 45mins screen on....:(

Edit: I'm currently at 57% with 1hr 29min of screen on time. Let the phone sit for an hour untouched and that alone used up 5%....
The last Samsung phone I had, a Note 3, also had faulty Software causing severe battery drainage. Whats up with this company that, 4 years later, they still can't get their act together...

I'm at over 4 hours sot with 35% battery life left. I typically get about 6 hours. Not sure what you're doing or how you're using your phone. What is your brightness at? I get way better battery life than my 7 plus did.

2 to 3 hours SOT that if u use all every thing that great phone cand do:
wifi - always on
mobile data - always on
AOD - always on
bluetooth with 2 devices (watch and headset) - about 6-7 hours a day

auto brightness
.........
That's bs, with my s4 i get 3 hours sot with all the things that you have listed there.

I wanted to show you my usage stats, but I cant, I have to have 10 posts first... oh well

I have AOD display off, bluetooth off, auto brightness.
Yesterday I got 8h, 43min of Usage, with 2hrs 22min of screen on time and was left with 34%.

Battery usage was caused by:
Display 15%
Android-System 11%
Android OS 6%
Standby 5%
Whatsapp 5%
Google Services 3%
Battery on Standby 3%
Deezer 2%
Samsung Health 2%
Instagram 2%
Snapchat 1%

Now that all adds up to 45%, so where did the rest go?

WhatsApp is horrible for battery life. You should use bkdisabler and disable some bloat too. That was probably the biggest game changer for me.

i've seen that happen before when google was trying to push an update for their Play Services. I would recommend to go into the Play Store and refresh your apps list to see if anything is pending.

Also, are you utilizing the Battery Performance feature? this appears to replicate greenify (i currently have greenify installed, but am debating on removing it now). also, as someone mentioned, adhell could help in terms of blocking those ads from trying to run in the background.

as for me, I'm getting decent time with AOD off (I scheduled it to turn on at night when I charge it), bluetooth/wifi/mobile data/GPS high accuracy always on.

I just replied to the other thread but here it goes...

iPhone6plus to SamsungS8
I'm loving the new phone. But maybe it's just because it's a new toy. I miss some of the jailbreak tweaks and I'm yet to read on about rooting.

I agree SOT is dependent on use case basis. Anyway, here's my settings:

1.) 5 min
2) FHD+
3) Black theme
4) black homescreen wall and black and white lockscreen wall
5) Facebook disabled, messenger installed but haven't signed in yet
6.) Auto brightness ON
7.) AOD off
8.) mobile data off, always on Wifi, BT manually set when BT headset is being used and activity tracker is being synced
9.) manually disabled some app mobile background usae and settings
10.) added most apps to "Always sleeping apps" setting
11.) 6 email accounts all on Auto Sync schedule
12.) Location on (high accuracy)
13.) Bixby off, Gnow off
14.) No social media apps, unless you consider reddit and flickr as one
15.) Screen is set as AMOLED photo (no other reason than just trying this out when I sent photos from my mirrorless to the S8)

EDIT: my 3 year old iPhone6plus would've lasted half a day with the same usage. WIth the old phone having only 16gb, I'm loving both the 64gb (+expandable) memory and the battery of this s8.

EDIT 2: And this s8 fits like a glove on my hand compare to the 6plus where I constantly have to use both hands.

in terms of settings, I have everything on: WiFi, mobile data, bluetooth (constant connection to my watch, pairing with my car too), GPS high accuracy, multiple email accounts syncing. lone exception is that I set AOD off until at night when I charge it on my wireless charging pad. I also have bixby turned on.

What can I do to improve battery life? FHD doesn't help. I need the AOD

Sent from my [device_name] using XDA-Developers Legacy app
- disable apps that you don't use
- block notifications of apps that you don't need notifications from
- lock your screen when not using it
- check your cell signal (areas like basements struggle to maintain a cell connection, thus burn through battery the most)

All done . I guess I need to disable AOD :(

I love the phone. But the battery life is disappointing. I was thinking of upgrading to note 8. But it doesn't have a decent battery life either. Might as well stick to this one then

I set AOD to turn on at night when it's charging.
Battery life has been better than my prior device which had a larger battery.
