What's the use of of AOD when you switch it on at night???

Sent from my SM-G950FD
I really do not need AOD during the day since I have my watch and can tell what notifications are important from the LED lights.

If I wake up in the middle of the night, I can quickly glance at my phone (laying on the nightstand next to my bed) to see if there's anything important without having to wake the screen.

Plus, others have shown that AOD does in deed reduce daily battery life, so if it's on while charging, no harm.

But this is obviously a personal preference if you need to be looking at your phone every minute throughout the day. As for me, I try to avoid looking at my phone and focus more on looking at people instead.

Sometimes I get just 4h and sometimes 5, I think it greatly depends on the screen brightness and background apps running, I guess to get 6-7 hours SOT they have put the screen brightness to 20% max

No woodoo at all. I did get 7h and more SOT, but it depends on what services or processes are running in background. For instance, today I've forgotten to quit my navigation app which was active for 33 min with screen off (and sucked 6% of all battery!), the phone was getting warm, and it will barely get more than 4.5 hours SOT.
