Screen on time

Love the battery life on this phone. Got this discharging from 100 on wifi only. Bo location no Bluetooth. With heavy usage, downloading torrents watching videos on MX Player. Downloading music and obviously the usual array of social media apps. Facebook, Twitter, IG, SC. Only issue I have is that the latest nougat update broke the fast charging on the exynos variant.

Snapdragon variant:
No custom ROM or anything, but I am using bk disabler. 0 dark themes. Mostly used Facebook, instagram, google chrome (30 tabs open), snapchat, YouTube and Netflix. Downloaded 10 songs, had a 30 minute phone conversation, and lots of texting. Location and sync was on the whole time. Only used wifi, max screen resolution, and aod off. 45 applications installed and 2 widgets on screen(1 of which is a weather app). Using nova launcher with the Google companion.

Install system panel 2 and investigate where is your problem

I only got 4sot. This is amazing wat you guys got.

I got that on the latest Nougat firmware which was AQL5. But my phone was charging slow asf on that firmware so I downgraded to AQK7 now, still pretty much the same battery life. I think the key here is that I didn't use any mobile data, location or bluetooth and was at home all day. If you're using all these radios then 4h SOT isn't a bad reading.

Have you got data on all the time, data connection (especially on LTE) chows battery, if you have WiFi turn data off. AOD days a bit exorbitant if screen brightness is on auto cos then AOD can be brighter which does impact battery, install Naptime from play store it really helps battery.

Are u sure u're using s8? and not the s8+? I'm using s8 sinds the release date and I'm not able to get more out my s8 than max 5h of screen on time..
Let me know you're settings pls btw I use snapchat a lot and instagram and most of all YouTube.

Get about 2½ hours SOT over the course of 15 hours long day. Battery normally around 10% then.

thats just ace. installing stock Oreo now. coming from inconsistent SOT on a bunch of custom ROMs ranging from 3 - 5hr SOT but averaging on the lower (3.5 - 4hr) sides.

It gets worse after each update

When I first picked up my Galaxy S8 in May 2017, the battery life was astonishing. I am a heavy user and I received 7 hrs 20min on the very first charge. My previous phone, (which sadly got stolen), a Galaxy S6, could average 3,5hrs and the best I ever got was 5hrs and 5min on lowest brightness.
Therefore I was pleasantly surprised with the S8. Couple months in and after a few updates the battery started getting worse. Started averaging 4,5 to 5hrs instead of the usual 6+ hours. So I downgraded back to the software that it had from the box via ODIN and boom!! Back to the usual 6 to 7 hours!!
Fast forward to yesterday when I did the Oreo update and the battery is now terrible! 15 mins of SOT dropped the battery by 20% after I just installed it. Seems to have stabilised now, but I'm currently on 16% from a full charge with just over 3hrs SOT. Oh yeah, and the phone gets super hot. Will give it a week, if no improvements I will have to downgrade back to Nougat.
