I have absolutely no idea, I'm sorry! I have been trying to figure out how to get more juice out of my phone and this is the result so far, nothing else I really know. I don't know whether it's the the black theme, the underclock...

My usage is not heavy and for the previous and current screenshot is all indoors with WiFI connected (LTE off most of the time). I use spotify, firefox, whatsapp, youtube, instagram and Quora mostly. None of these seem bottlenecked by the underclock as they're not the most demanding apps. The brightness has been relatively low (10-30%) since it's weekend and I've mostly been at home, but that might not have a crazy big impact since I have a pitch black theme in every app I use except Quora. I'll have to see how that goes tomorrow when I'm out and about.

As far as I know the little cores consume less power, and so I used the HMP settings (see screenshot) to have most of the work be done by the little cores.

I'll keep testing and tweaking this until I know the results are consistent across other usages. I'll share any things I find, I know how important good battery life is.

-UPDATE-
80% battery left with 2h 45m SoT. Standby time is 6h.
Oh that's a good stat ! I suppose you are using kernel audiutor to modify the HMP settings isn't it ?

The app is called MTweaks and comes as an extra option during the kernel installation. But you're right, it's basically just kernel audiutor renamed.

The pitch black themes can also be installed without root btw. Substratum can do the exact same thing when accompanied with another app specifically designed for Samsung phones. With Kiwi browser you can also view all websites using a pitch black background, which might help save some battery if you're often browsing the web on your phone. I actually just switched to it since with firefox you'd often first see the normal site before it was changed into dark mode whereas with Kiwi that's not the case. Kiwi also is extremely similar to chrome, if that's your thing I'd definitely check it out.

Before buying s8+ i was really scared about battery life of this phone, but turns out that I was wrong. I bought s8+ about one month ago and battery life is amazing so far. I mostly use browser, social and messeging apps. I hardly ever watch movies and i'm not gaming at all. AOD turned on (7:00-0:00). Stock rom and kernel. I don't use fast charging. I'm usually getting 8-9 hours of SOT.Screenshot_20181220-010203_Settings.jpeg

Do you guys/gals charge it up to 100%? or 80%?
I use accubattery and set it to 80% with a short notification/vibration. If i am nearby i will unplug it. If somehow i need to charge at night i will just let it charge to 100%. I'm planning on keeping it for another year or until it dies since there is no reason for me to change phones, but if you buy a new phone every year or two then i wouldn't care if i charge it to 100% or not .

I bought S8 plus in November. Accubattery always reports 9, close to 10 hours SOT. I don't know if that's accurate, but battery life really is great. I charge it once in two days. But what worries me is that according to Accubattery and phone info app, battery health is 96% after only 27 cycles! Fg_fullcapnom says 3359. I charge it from 20% to 80%, it never dropped to 0% and I charged it to 100% only two or three times. I did charged it using fast charging, but it seems impossible that battery depleted 4% in two months and around 40 fast charges. I'm not sure what to think...

Barely hit 5 hours screen on time with android Pie. I'm really mad. If I want more SOT, I need to turn on battery saving mode.
I remember that there was diffrence between Oreo and Pie in standby time and SOT after update. Oreo was far better. I believe that Pie made the diffrence.

Here is my battery stats from Oreo on Wi-fi only, QHD resolution, no battery saver mode, GPS, stock firmware

It was interesting because I reached similar SOT with stock white theme.
