Am getting worst battery life than my Mate 9 with the same usage really hoping it improves because battery life was main reason for getting this over Pixel 2 xl

Tried including attachment but by the time I hit 20% I was at 8 hours and a couple minutes of SOT. I have WiFi on, brightness on like 45% (no auto), sync off, GPS on.
Had I not charged, no question I would have been able to hit about 10 hours of SOT.
Primary usage was chrome, texting, music, and games.

Basically I'm using it mostly for internet, Facebook instagram.. Web surfing and YouTube. I don't play games at all.
I have turned on wifi lte and gps, brightness is about 35%.
Now I have 39% battery left, and 2:30min Sot.
I got a full 8 hours of screen on with my Mate 10 before it got to 4%, which definitely impressed me. I hope that'll help rid me of my battery anxiety and having to carry about a battery pack with me. 
Really bad experience with battery life. It's same as my 2 years old s7 edge.

Full LTE, i live in Vienna. So signal is not the problem.
Its not do impressive. Lenovo P2 with 5000 mAh battery runs around 12-14 hours dot.

First few days i had bad Sot, but after few days of usage I have constantly about 5-6 hours sot.
Today i have 6h 29min Sot with 18% battery left.

I would say that the battery life is significantly better than the pixel 2 xl. Your missing out on a better software experience and monthly updates
Can we assume that the Mate 10 Pro has better battery life than the non Pro, due to Amoled screen, dark mode and lower resolution?
Coming from an aging Nexus 6, the battery life on my standard Mate 10 has been stellar. Only been 2 charge cycles but no complaints.

Not sure how this is possible. I can understand if you hardly used the phone but your screen on time suggests you do. Perhaps you don't have social media apps and have turned syncing off?
In average 5-6 hrs SOT with up to 18hrs before battery is dead.
Sync is on but no Facebook/instagram or anything.. basically articles, whatsapp/Snapchat, YouTube, bleacher report (pushed sports news), xda, etc. The phone was charged overnight on Friday and the screenshots are from Sunday night.
Nfc is off, Bluetooth music streaming for maybe 20-30 mintues, brightness is set manually, wifi majority of the time with maybe 5-6 hours on 4g/lte.
Using pixel launcher with battery optimization turned off.

Is that trade off worth it?
I am about to return the mate 10 pro that I have because of its defective battery (It needs to be charged twice a day with normal to light use)
What firmware are u on?
Camera quality difference?
I make 8 hours sot mate 10 pro, using 4g,bright 30%(manual),just this thing on, rest all off. using Telegram plus, and browser.
