SOT is useless. Depending on what you are doing, it can vary from 6hrs to 12hrs or more. If you play games, watch vids, etc, it will obviously consume more than lighter activities. So what should SOT be based on?

SOT would always be based on a standard point.(of course anyone has to do the same, we dont have even to clarify this) In my case i measure it with only wifi at 60% brightness. It may vary from user to user, but measurenent has to be with same conditions. In my case with same conditions,i was able to get 8 hrs and 11 hrs with clean flash latest pie 9.6.5 dev rom.

I installed pixel experience plus 2 days ago... Default kernel was horrible.... I was loosing battery 2% for every 8-10minutes( whatsapp/ browser+ 4G voLTE )
Then i tried IceCold v5... when i booted up battery was dropped 10% ... When i put it on charge ... Battery was straight 11% more charged
Story continued with IceCold v5 12% drop per hour( flipkart/ whatsapp/ browser + 4G voLTE)

Then after some hours i tried KangarooX (latest version till date) story remained same... Poor battery performance

Then i tried pureCAF, extended( EAS version) but battery performance was very poor.

Then today i flashed MiUI MMX.( With default kernel)
Battery performance was better than pixel experience plus, i could feel it from usage of an hour 8 percentage drop perhour if using Whatsapp or browser
Maximum 10% drop if using (Whatsapp / browser+ 4G voLTE)
Very satisfied with MIUI mmx

*All these were indoor usage ~10% brightness

Latest Havoc Os 2.9 + Extended Kernel, nothing special. One and half year old chinese RN5, charging it at 80% max with a few exceptions.

Edit: Screenshots were taken with 13% battery.

    I just love the battery!
I charged my phone to 100% on Friday evening. Didn't require a charger till Saturday night(after some good amount of usage).
Total usage was about 27 hours. I played videos for about 3-4 hours, heavy social media and online shopping.

I got 9.5 hours of SOT which is way better than what I was getting on my previous device - Oneplus 2.

Also I have a quick charger(using with stock cable) get about 2000mAh charging speeds. :)

Overall more than happy with battery! Screenshot_2018-03-03-22-09-10-203_com.miui.securitycenter.jpegScreenshot_2018-03-03-22-09-04-710_com.miui.securitycenter.jpeg

If ever you owned redmi note 3,4 then i must say the shots of redmi note 5 pro given by you becomes an instant deal breaker.See the time away from charge.
I bid redmi note 3 was far better.
I was a redmi note 3 user and upgraded to redmi note 5 pro last week. I can assure you 5 pro gives better battery life than rn3.

Then what do you understand by this usage graph.
Are not you sailing on same boat?
What is there for which you are happy ?
If company gives 1.5 day use this means simply brother "Charge your phone daily".Where is the respite from charging beside 4000 mah battery.See the irony 4000 mah battery and we are charging it daily and saying processor is very good and power efficient.
Most people don't need 10+ hours SOT and will easily achieve 2 or more days of usage. This is pretty much the best battery life you'll get with a powerful cpu atm. It is as powerful as the RN3 and as efficient as the RN4, best of both worlds. If you need more battery life, just get something with only small cores and 8000mah battery. I can't understand what you're complaining about.

It's amazing how much we actually use our phones in a given day, especially when we watch "videos"! Rate this thread to express how many hours of screen-on time you can get on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro before depleting the battery.

Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!

I own rn3 I don't care about battery, but performance.. Should i upgrade..? Also I play a lot of online games, is there any lag problems in online games like in rn4.

You shouldn't upgrade. The redmi note 3 has a beastly snapdragon 650. It has the adreno 510 which is far better than the 509 for games.

    MrMagicPotato is wrong
Snapdragon 636 is better than 650 in many levels
it has 14nm architecture, kryo cores, and get nearly same score as snapdragon 820 in benchmark
636 with Adreno 509 will peform better than 650 with 510
