I bought some cheap ones on an auction site and they are horrible. I had a broken fingernail today, just a little bit broken on the edge and that was enough to make serious scratches into the screen protector. WTF? And they dont fit the edges of the display.
Cant remember the brand unfortunately.

I'm ordering some original HTC ones now.

As for not fitting the edges, almost certainly you put it on upside down (I did that myself :(). The curvature of the top is slightly different to the bottom.

As many here, I also use the HTC's one and I'm perfectly happy with it. Bought one pack (2 pcs) shortly after buying my DHD (end of October) and I can say that one protector lasts easyly 6 months. I replaced mine because it had a few micro scratches, but for 6 months without a case/pouch (I actualy have the HTC's leather case but I don't use it) it's good as it gets. Needless to say the cut is perfect but there are two tiny bubbles in the upper right corner (it's purely a production error and maybe HTC corrected that in later releases - someone who have bought it recently can say if they did).

Other than that you get probably the best quality for your money. I know there are better ones but if one protector costs twice the price of the official pack, it has to last 2 years. None of them do. I have bought an Invisible Shield for my wife's iPhone4 and had to scrap it sooner than my cheap HTC protector. What you should know before you buy is that the official HTC's protector is of the 'clear' type which means that it does reflect sunlight making the screen a little less visible under direct sunlight but it does not have any effect on the colours of the screen opposed to the 'anti-glare' type screen protectors which improve the sunlight visibility but have a matt finish and can have the rainbow effect. If it wasn't for the two little bubbles you can barely say that it's there.

One warrning though - mind the gap between the glass screen and the plastic 'lip', because the protector's dimensions exactly match the glass screen. The protector must be placed on the screen only! When putting the protector DON'T use the plastic lip as a guide because a/ the protector will end short of your screen edge and b/ in a short time dust will get stuck on the edge of the protector which covers the gap and it will become white. Other than this the installation is easy - just follow the usual guides for installing a screen protector. Prior to the installation turn on the hot water to make some (I say again some) steam to get rid of dust in the air, turn your phone off so noone calls you during the installation, wipe the screen with microfiber cloth that does not leave lint and install the protector in the bathroom. If you make an error just unstick it calmly (don't touch the adhesive side) and stick it again properly. If somethig goes horribly wrong you can always use the second protector in the pack.
