Screen Time-out & App Kill Timer?

Just wondering if there is a way to have a longer screen time out period other than 30mins? I only ask as I some times like to watch videos on the web and if you don't touch the screen within the defined "timeout" period the screen will lock.

Has anyone had this issue before?

Also I was wondering if anyone knows of any apps that could lock the screen and/or kill an app after a certain time? A bit like the old "sleep mode" some TV's had? Some times I like to fall asleep while watching youtube vids or other web vids and would prefer that the web browser kills the stream after a set period so i don't kill my download quota.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

First off, i would like to say WOW. I wanted to post the exact same question yesterday.
I have a 1:30 hour commute back home on the bus where i like to watch something, close my eyes and then just listen to help me fall asleep. The same at night, I'm one of those people who cant fall asleep without something playing in the background and i have AutoShutdown installed on my PC at 2am. But mostly, i can't sleep peacefully on my xoom because i know my screen is not shutting down and eating away my battery.

Before i had the XOOM i did that on the PSP, which you can turn off the monitor and the video still plays. But the XOOM kills the apps once u turn off the screen.

Music works though, i dont see why it cant be a video feature as well.

*bump*

Oh and yes, the screen turns off after that set period of time, which is VERY annoying. It was fine when it was stock. Its since i loaded the Tiamat kernel that it shuts off my screen during video playback

ok, well I have done some testing tonight (3.1) and it appears that if you are playing youtube videos in the browser or in the app and even other videos in a video player such as MoboPlayer it wont timeout now.. maybe this was something fixed in 3.1 ....?

I even tested in the website where I first noticed the issue and now it doesn't timeout.

... So that solves one issue. Does anyone know of a way then to lock/sleep timer for android. Anyway seen a basic app that does it? Maybe I might have to write one.. :-/

I use widgetsoid for the first problem. I just hit the screen always on widget. And use the power button to actually turn off the screen.
