I am well impressed with the technical knowledge and complexity of posters running s2a on rooted phone but so glad I don't have to do all that to keep s2a. I have used s2a, without reinstalling, for last 8 months on non root Samsung note 9 with wireless AA set up.

Works flawlessly, with sound and audio for most streaming apps non drm protected. Installed s2a with AA Ease on android 9 and AA version 6.6xxx. Upgraded phone software to android 10 and current version of AA is 7.7xxxx. I would suggest that a 'compatible' non root phone is less hassle and much easier than using a rooted phone.

i have been using it with no problems for months on an unrooted p30 pro on A12, installed using AAEASE... i haven't had luck getting this to work on any rooted phone in the longest time. very strange it will work on the non rooted phone but not a rooted one. i have tried several rooted phones all on A12, no luck.

The program should be on your phone if your in one of the latest releases... It's just embedded in the system now instead of being stand alone.

Go into your phones settings and either do a search for Android Auto, or it may be under Settings->connected devices->Android Auto (at least that's where it is for my pixel 6).

You enter developers mode the same way you did on the Android Auto for mobile app.

Question regarding this. I haven't even enabled developer settings in AA since switching to a pixel 6 pro. I just checked and unknown sources isn't even enabled in there. Is this even necessary anymore? My screen2auto's been working for months.

Can anyone provide details on how this works on unrooted phones? Do you just install it and that's all? I've tried it with root and it is a pain. Sometimes it works other times it doesn't but never works after a reboot. Very frustrating. I now have it installed but denied root access yet it still isn't working. Those of you with it working on nonrooted phones. What was the process or steps you took to make it work?

on my nonrooted phones i installed this app : https://inceptive.ru/projects/aaease

then i downloaded and installed screen2auto from aaease, and followed the normal directions for setting up screen2auto from the instructions in the OP. it has never stopped working. on rooted phones it has become a nightmare

But how are you able to follow directions in OP on a nonrooted phone when it states to use AA AIO Tweaker which requires root to function?

ahhh..haven't scrolled up there in so long. first enable developer options in android auto, allow unknown sources. then install screen2auto from aaease. before opening screen2auto , open its properties and grant it every permission. then open and set up screen2auto giving it all the additional permissions it asks for.

I don't use AA AIO on the non rooted phone, never needed to install it.

A lot of thanks uksus 17 for your hard works and enormous help to we fellow subscribers of Android Auto.I downloaded EASUS and installed Screen2Auto, Fermata Auto and Fermata Control.After giving the required permissions to each of them I restarted the phone (Unrooted Samsung Fold2 running on Android 12,4.1 UI,1 June 2022 Security Patch Level and embedded Android Auto Wireless Version 7.7.6221340 release,I restarted the phone, opened each apps in the phone and completed the set up each apps as per instructions in OP 1.Then I connected the phone wirelessly to Android Auto in my Blaupunkt B910 AU San Andreas 970 Car Multimedia System.The connection went smoothly and I could see Screen2Auto and Fermata apps in the screen of Android Auto. I could open and play audio and video in these apks coolly.And I am relieved now from the months long searching in the web.I would like to send you a coffee as my gratitude.So please give me your GPay Number or PayPal link.

Thank you Tensux and westhaking for your assurance Scree2Auto and Fermata Auto in my Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 with Android 12 and Android Auto 7.7.I. I followed westhaking's instructions and now my Blaupunkt Car Music System is Playing Audios and Videos in Android Auto.

hi everyone, I have two smartphones available to use for mirroring screen, a Realme GT neo 2 and a Samsung S7, following your posts I made several attempts without success with any of the 2, without root permissions. Is there a good guide available? Also because I don't like trying, I would like to understand the logic of the operation. I saw that AA is not possible to downgrade because installing previous versions requires updating to proceed when opening, so some service must be circumvented. then root is mandatory?

Thanks "Pnsdhrn", I had already read that post and tried it with the exception of the" EASUS "app which I did not find and I did not understand what it is for and to install S2A I tried with" AAAD ", but in AA I get a 'icon with written all the apps for cars, trying to open it I am shown only apps allowed by AA so no video app.
Where do I find instructions OP 1?

    Does anyone here know to read titles? "Only for rooted devices". There is a reason THE DEVELOPER of the app, posting this.
    Because one or another make it work in a no rooted device, doesn't mean it will work in every device regardless rom, Android version, etc.
    Having installed screen2auto in many many many devices, (more than 50) rooted and no rooted, 99.99% of non rooted have small or big problems. And even if it work, it won't last for long without fixing something. Sooner or later you will root if you still want to use it.
    What everyone else posting here, that "in my no rooted device everything works fine", congratulation but it's not a general situation.

    You are actually confusing people. Do another thread "screen2auto without root" and post there your instructions.

    On my galaxy s22 ultra all works fine, screen2auto needs to be authorized evrytime you run it. Installed fermata auto end screen2auto with aaease and installed carstream via AAAD, all work fine...and with touchscreen of my auto. (Audroid auto 7.8, and android 12

    If not something else, asease changes the package name for S2A. It is necessary since Google constantly updates Android Auto with the (black) list of apps that must not be allowed to work

    Unlocking BL, potentially installing custom Recovery and even some peculiarities with Magisk are highly dependable of the phone vendor and even model. Therefore, you have to search/read Guides, Q&A etc (posts, threads) on XDA, look for the (sub) forum specific to your phone

    Eg, google for:
    XDA Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro
    and Google will point you to the Redmi K20 Pro subforum on XDA where you can find tons of info specific to that phone

    XDA has its own search, but I prefer google

    Also, search for
    GitHub Magisk
    and you will be pointed to the official GitHub page for Magisk - find and read the documentation (Installation, Wiki) there

    Search also for XDA Magisk to find a generic thread about Magisk

    Yes, just updated AA to version 7.8.622514-release, everything still working. You can always delete AA and install earlier version from apk if needed.

    Installation and setup:
    1. Download and Install Screen2Auto

    2. Enable developper settings in Android Auto and enable Unkown sources in developper settings.
    1. Launch on the Android Auto mobile device
    2. Open the menu, tap the tab "About Android Auto"
    3. In the menu that opens, tap on the gear (settings). Then we crawl to the very bottom of the menu that opens: "Version 4.5. *** - release".
    4. 10 times tap on the display of the version of Android Auto, a window will appear where we must agree with what we are doing. Click "Yes."
    5. Go to the menu (tap "three points") and select the tab "For Developers" that appears in the menu
    6. In the last line, put a checkmark "Unknown sources" or use other settings of the developer's menu.
    3. Use the AA AIO TWEAKER from @shmykelsa for activation third-party applications.
    4. Launch the application and perform the initial setup of permission recovery. Click on the button and save them.

    Warning:

    The only way (similar method from the Fermata player thread) I found to overcome the problem for now is:
    - Use Android Auto version 7.0.614104 (tried v7.1.614554, it does not work in any way).
    - Rename the Screen2Auto app v3.6.2 (change the ru.inceptive.screentwoauto name) with Lucky Patcher or any other rename apk app.
    - Uninstall the original Screen2Auto and install the renamed one.
    - Enable Unknown Sources on AA and patch/add the newly renamed app to AA with AA IO Tweaker as you normally would.

    I tried turning off/on the car, disconnected and rebooted the phone, Screen2Auto hasn't disappeared yet.

    Lucky Patcher actually calls it "Cloning".
    There are also other apps like ApkRenamer and Apk Editor Pro, but haven't tried them.
    An example of cloned app, that has been renamed to ru.inceptive.screentwoautp using Lucky PAtcher clone operation ("p" instead of "o" at the end) (** I'm not responsible if Lucky Patcher has injected anything malicious in the apk, I hope not, I'm also using the apk **):
