FYI:
Been running S2A 3.7.0 without any issues since the day it came out.

While regularly updating AA,
currently @ 9.2.631214.

Simply followed the same steps again,
which also worked for S2A 3.6.4.

I correctly installed both v3.6.4 and v3.7

Anyway, I will no more waste/spend time to repeat everything to prepare and set-up new S2A and retest in the car, having v3.6.4 that works fine and don't know what else/better should be coming with V3 7 (if it would work as v3.6.4 does)

Is there some documentation for s2a, other than wading through 150 pages of posts here? (And no, I cannot read russian or other cyrillic stuff.)

I have a xiaomi mi 9, with android 10. Tried android auto in the car, but then the phone wanted google maps. I don't want google maps, because I have better maps. Google maps is uninstalled. So, I attempted s2a then.

The phone is already unlocked and rooted with magisk for other reasons. (Mostly freedom, and getting rid of apps like facebook, google maps, xiaomi gunk, ...) So I downloaded s2a 3.6.4, and installed it using adb. Ran it, and gave it every permission it asked for. For some reason, it rebooted the phone at some point.

New attempt in the car. The phone still wanted google maps :-(. But ok, I can have this installed, but not use it. Allowed google maps, started AA from the car menu, and got plain android auto with google maps. No s2a launcher with ability to run other apps. I can start the s2a app on the phone, it does not complain of anything, but all it does is to bring up its own settings. And it sometimes opens a russian webpage that seems to inform me of version 3.7. (All this on the phone, not the car display.)

So I am stuck, for a lack of readable docs. Do I need another app, or a few settings. Or is it a larger project, comparable to making openldap do useful work?

I can easily understand your disappointment but yes: I only found "documentation" in these 150 pages but, if you want an "executive summary", have a look to the @Rikj000 Bible here . The "only" part left uncovered is the s2a settings. Good luck!

Hello, I'm not certain but Google Maps may be mandatory for Android Auto to function. However, I saw a solution on Xda to freeze Google Maps.

With SC2AA, you can use any application that is compatible with your phone! It's a mirror of your smartphone.

To install it, I use AAAD which allows for a two-click installation and is well recognized by Android Auto. Then, in Android Auto, you will have a Screen2auto icon that will show you a quick launch launcher for your favorite applications. Otherwise, at the bottom left (or right depending on the country , you have an "application" icon with a list of all the apps on your phone, and all you have to do is click on it.

Edit: Screen2auto only works in the car, when you launch the app on your phone, it's just the settings. Like Android Auto, the interface is on the car

I don't know what vmos is.
However, if your on Android 10, Netflix version 7.99.0 build 14 35427 works with Screen2Auto.
Otherwise I don't think so, as newer Android versions block the DRM mirroring. Doesn't work on my Pixel 6 Pro on Android 12.

Still works on my rooted Moto Ace 5g on Android 10.

Rooted Pixel 7 on android 13 running latest S2A, has anyone had issues trying to launch apps and S2A crashing when launching the app and the launched app gets closed out as well?

I have to launch a specific app that won't crash and then send it to the background in order for the screen mirroring to work which is really annoying and defeats the purpose of having the launcher and dashboard.

Hoping someone might have a solution to this issue.

I'm on android 8.0 and I'm close to the win even if...I'm about to give up. The big issue is that I messed around too much and the culprit of my unsuccess is something that some app that I installed and then uninstalled left behind. @Rikj000 gave me some hint but it was too late.

My strong suggestion to you is to follow @Rikj000 rules: after having tried many other paths I followed points 1, 2 and 5 on a smartphone, unfortunately not mine (with android 9.0), and everything worked out of the box; I'm now trying to replicate the procedure on my smartphone.

with: black screen to return to the AA homepage.
I specify that I am with Magisk 25.2 and S2A 3.2 (the combination that worked very well)

I'm reading you and...other that I confirm that I only fulfilled points 1, 2 and 5 I can only add my feelings: 1) I don't think that magisk version could have somehow an impact 2) I'd upgrade S2A to the last version

Hi there, I have a Pixel 7 Pro and have tried to use AAAD app for Screen2Auto. I had to give all permissions and then followed the instructions exactly. However, I still cannot get Screen2Auto to appear on the Android Auto Launchers. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I renamed and installed via King), google still flags it (even though the name and app and then will not allow me to enable the required setting for this app saying that they are disabled for my protection.

I opened APK Studio and replaced:
ru.inceptive.screentwoauto with xxx.xxx.renamed

However I only replaced the package name
package="ru.inceptive.screentwoauto"

do I need to replace all occurances? or just package.

I tried the same with MT Manager:

Open MT Manager => Open S2A.apk file => View => AndroidManifest.xml => String pool => Triple dot icon => Filter =>
Type the package name of the app ( "ru.inceptive.screentwoauto") => Ok
=> Select the found package name ("ru.inceptive.screentwoauto")
=> Alter it to something unique, don't tell your unique package name online => Ok => Back arrow => Save and exit
=> Save AndroidManifest.xml modification + Auto sign => Ok

Google Play protect is mostly there to protect Google, not you.

Feel free to disable it to prevent it from nagging about apps Google doesn't want you to use.

only a single string needs to be edited.

Perhaps Google Play protect is the culprit.
I have it disabled by default so not sure if it's another existing restriction.

The OnePlus check-mark did not work on my OnePlus + LineageOS device.

So then I implemented the root/LineageOS check-mark, which should work on any rooted phone, I'd recommend to use that one.

Lastly, did you try the xposed module of my app, AAXLU?
That should also help w unlocking 3th party apps.
