Somehow I still can't get hotspot to work. I ran the script and got through without any error. I still get the AT&T message saying the hotspot service is not activated.

This is about an unlocked Atrix outside the US - I have no way to connect it to the AT&T network.

I never actually tried it before the 1.5.7, Im tempted to do so and see wether it worked back then.

Could anyone help?

Enabling tethering simply adds the tethering APN for AT&T so you don't have to type it manually. It's possible that the update to 1.5.7 disabled the tethering service due to pressure from AT&T. Check the APN you're using, make sure it's the correct settings for your carrier and that under APN type, one of the options is "tether"

I'll update the first post to clarify what it means by "enable tethering"

Right. I thought the script did in fact something to enable tethering aside from editing the APN settings.

My APN settings are correct. I used them to tether with plenty of other phones (android and non-android) before.

Anyhow, the only solution I have is to download and use a third party app for tethering but Id like to have the stock option enabled. I might go back to 1.2.6 and see what happened then.

I had several issues getting it to work myself at first. I had to delete the old one that the initial script created, reboot, run the script again, enable the new APN, reboot AGAIN, and then it finally started working like before.

Same thing here..

Nothing worked for me, i had to go back to 1.2.6 to get tethering back. so i flashed SBF 1.2.6 and now works perfectly, something definitely changes when the OTA is applied

Any news on this? im also sim unlocked and outside the US

Since this issues seems to be exclusive to sim unlocked devices NOT on AT&T's network, I'm willing to bet that something DID get broke for non-AT&T users. The firmware and update were meant for AT&T users, and nobody else, so before you go off ranting on how much AT&T sucks, keep that in mind. :)

Just a quick and probably silly question...I extracted the files to C:/GladEnable. I went and checked the folder, but all the files are inside of ANOTHER folder called GladEnable. So for instance, the .bat file is at C:/GladEnable/GladEnable/GladEnable.bat
Is this correct? Or should I remove one of the directories?

probably won't matter, but generally for convention i'd say remove one of them

Yeah I tried it and it works, both side loading and tethering. I also rooted with gingerbreak if that matters or not

Sent from my MB860 using XDA Premium App

I've rooted with Gingerbreak and have GreyBlur running. I've run GladEnable script 10 times trying different things...always ended saying sideloading enabled, then reboot. But just doesn't work...still can't sideload anything. Anyone else coming across this? I've tried all the ways to enable side-loading...this being my last...just refuses to work.

sideloading not working, rooted 4.1.57 grayblur

I have tried it saveral times, I see one thing always: Permission denied.
I am sure my phone is rooted, I could access su via terminal.

Is there any other way to double check the rooting and/or sideloading script to enable it?

thanks!

I believe we are having the same issue? I also am rooted, and see Permission Denied while script runs briefly, then it says sideloading enabled, and reboots...

Have you found a solution yet?

Finally got this working! I know from the PM's there are a few others having this same issue when following all directions perfectly and nothing. Still not sure what the problem was, but I finally got the settings options everyone talks about for Menu/Settings/Applications: the unknown sources tick-box is now there and side-loading enabled. I could not get this to work originally with GingerBlur (about 5 separate installs) or with GreyBlur (at least 10 times), but just installed GingerBlur 3.0 over GreyBlur without flashing back to Original stock first. I have no idea if it is related in any way, but it's the first time it worked..
