So it's actually both the exynos and the snapdragon. hmm
From reading online and here the Exynos version that seems to have issues is the 930FD (dual SIM version)
Can we please have more people contribute their experiences with the Note 7 and which model they are using?

Thanks

my wife has the s7 edge with exynos processor and her phone is fast and crisp . I'm guessing its the SAMSUNG bloatware thats slowing the processor down .. software optimization is severely lacking on the note 7 side
thats why all the other phones that are on snapdragon 820 seem more fluid and stutter free

Androidkid27 on the T Mobile forum figured out that if you remove the "small" screen scaling setting and leave it set to "large", it fixes the issue. The choppiness during scrolling is gone. Mine is now 1000% better. Hope they fix this scaling issue in the next update.

SM-N930FD been having the unit since 17th august and migration via smart switch from rooted s5. take note that includes large amount of WhatsApp chats and images, wechat chats and images, 2000++ sms. No Lag. I basically didn't enable most of the Samsung built in app during setup. also those that says the battery management is bad, I don't agree. there is a new built in tool which auto sleep apps which are draining power and you can manually sleep apps as well. have gone 22 hours with calls, chats, gps on, uber orders, audio streaming and some games no issue.

I've spent a silly amount of time trying to improve the performance of this phone so that it matched up closer with the iPhone 6S Plus that I was using previously. Then, I found some random comment that said to decrease your font size to improve scrolling performance. I did that, 100% not expecting it to do anything noticeable, but it did. I have my display settings set to Large scaling with "Extra small" font. Scrolling is much more fluid and much more consistent than it was before that setting change.

Going from small to large scaling (default) also helps a lot, but I had been sett to Large for a good while before setting the font size.

Some phones exhibit choppy scrolling, especially when navigating long web pages when multiple apps are running in the background. Rate this thread to express how you smooth scrolling feels on the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 under such conditions. A higher rating indicates that scrolling is always buttery smooth, even when you're reading a 10,000 word article on "how to kiss a girl".

Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
I cut animations to .5 and use Nova Launcher. Zero lag, phone is super fast.

What are you guys setting scaling to? Small or large?

that seemed to help as well

Small or large?
extra small, which is second click from the left of the slider i think. It will name it once you back out. To me, extra small font on large scale looks exactly like tiny font on small scale-it is very readable. I still think cutting the animations made the biggest difference though. They're just laggy.

I think there may be some defective hardware/software issues with some batches...

Just to add to this. I received my snapdragon Sprint version in Black last Thursday. My wife got a coral blue one. I noticed right off that her scrolling was buttery smooth. She plays Pokemon Go, and her balls fly just fine when catching them, while mine would dribble to the side with my finger on the freaking screen sometimes or not throw very far at all.

So finally I decided it had to be defective. Drove 35 miles to the nearest Corporate Sprint store that actually had one in stock and then showed them the side by side comparison and problems. They factory reset it but it still had the same issue. So they defective exchanged it with a new one for me. I was within my 14 days anyway, so had they deemed it not defective I still would have switched it out and paid the restocking fee.

My new one is buttery smooth just like hers.

So it seems that quality control issues might be a factor here. It is either the GPU, touchscreen, or a software bug effecting some of them. So if you are having issues as I described go to your carrier ASAP and get them to swap it out.

What websites are you guys going on to make the Note 7 lag? I wanna try it out for myself. The more I read about the W8 version the better I feel about getting the FD version...

Maybe this is my issue. I'm here in Canada with the Black Onyx one. At times it's smooth and good but then will just start to lag and stutter...especially app switching or typing. With the recall though I wonder if a new replacement will alleviate this.

From reading this thread, i can clearly state that the snapdragon version is a laggy sh*t, and the exynos is "smooth". (USA people triggered)

I am still patiently waiting for my note 7 PREORDER, yes. Still hasnt arrived in finland. But thats great! I wont get a bad one like some of you, or i wont get a exploding one. lol, the carrier told me that it will take some extra time as "samsung is doing some quality checking with the phones, and they cant yet tell me when will the phone arrive".

I've done both the scaling and font size adjustment on the Note 7 I returned yesterday as well as the S7 edge that I got as the temporary replacement until the Safe notes arrive.

Can confirm it does make a big difference in overall scrolling smoothness. The S7E is set to "standard" display scaling with the "condensed" option there as well.

Combining that with setting the animation speeds to 0.5x and just the overall quickness of Nova launcher and it all results in a SERIOUSLY quick phone.

Vs my 6P, there really is no difference. I've even tried out rooting the 6P and loading a custom kernel that bumps up the CPU clock speed.

I have 2 versions.

SM-N9300 (Hong Kong international version) Its the dual sim version w/ Snapdragon 820

&

SM-N930F (Singapore or UK version (not sure) w/ Exynos and single sim)

Both are smooth for me. No issues with scrolling long text / PDF files. Or long websites / forum posts. On the SD (Hong Kong Version) My image gallery has over 3000 photos and videos (on both the internal and SD card) and its smooth to scroll.

The only lag I have experienced is with the Exynos when typing. The SD version does not have this problem.

However KEEP IN MIND, the Snapdragon version I have is the Hong Kong International version. It may be different, or use different components than the US version. I got it direct from samsung (No carrier) and factory unlocked. So that means no carrier bloatware etc.

I have a feeling that is why my SD version seems to slightly out perform the exynos version (Except for the exynos having a slight edge battery life wise).

As someone else mentioned I think it also has to do with certain production batches. As there are hundreds of threads of people complaining about lag, boot loops, lagged typing etc on the Exynos version. And also hundreds of posts from people complaining about stutter and lag in the US (Carrier Locked) Snap Dragon versions. I guess I got lucky as both the devices i have perform very well.
