Been using a lot over the last week, thanks a ton for the heads up. Which dev/tag should I be following on the site listed in the OP for updates to it? There are TONS on there and while this one works perfectly (solves the miserable stock camera app shutter latency problem) I'd like to be as current as possible.
I've wrote a couple of posts above that I'm noticing a green hue in the dark photos especially when the lights involved in the shot are hot (around 2500-3000K). Did you notice this too or I'm that unlucky to have a defective sensor? I'm using the latest stable Arnova camera mod without any setting changed. It's the one with the red text and you need to scroll a bit down to download it. Also I'm on 8.0 feb. patch.

I don't know if I were on the same version of Gcam as you, but I had the same problem on my Mi A1 when "improve in low light" setting was enabled.

Been trying to Google this but not found a definite answer but do these Gcam mods require root? Just bought this phone yesterday but can return it as long as I don't open the plastic and I've heard the stock app doesn't result in the best picture quality. Thanks for helping.

You can install and use without root.
I recommend you this version: @Arnova8G2 Pixel3Mod v4beta1, everything works but the slow motion, yet...

Thank you for your quick reply. Is the wide angle working now or is the camera2api still "locked" for it?

I have seen some reports saying that they see a noticeably improvement in picture quality with the recent updates to the stock app. What are your thoughts about the new stock app? Thanks

You can't use the wide angle camera with the GCam app, because the app is a mod from the Pixel Camera app and the Pixel have only one camera, it's possible to make a mod that works with only the wide angle camera, but I don't have knowledge to do that...

Yes, the recent update on the stock camera improved the quality, you can only compare the quality with GCam if you have an ambient with a lot of light, but the GCam will be better anyways... The stock app is only good because of some features, like spot color, background cut, YouTube Live (I don't know if in english are these names, mine is in portuguese).

This version's having washed out color on my device, do you have any other recommeded versions?
I tried a lot of recent versions, and I'm looking for versions which takes smaller picture sizes( 2~7MB per pic, not some 6MB up sizes)
I know scrubber mentioned above works fantastic but I look forward to newer versions:p

That's odd, here works fine...
Try that version Google Camera 5.0.025 Minimal Beta Final
About the picture size, you can change some settings inside the app, like the JPEG quality and/or resolution, I think it's the only way to achieve lower photo sizes...

Ok thanks. Reason I'm asking is because I have also been looking at the LG V30 (I like the idea of having an wide angle lens such as the x4 and v30) and I have seen that someone has developed a wide angle Gcam for the V30 and read that it gives good results.

Ok thanks for your opinion. So your suggestion is to run Gcam for normal camera even though the stock has been improved.

If I install the Gcam app I can still run the normal one as usual right?
Cheers.

I tried that GCam, but doesn't works on X4, we need to modify specifically for our phone.

Yes, use both, here I use only the stock app because the wide angle, with the normal lens and front camera I only use the GCam.

Best one for me has been [https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/GCam5.1.018-Arnova8G2-V1.4Beta2.apk] by quite a margin.

Portrait and ZSL work for both front and back, and only HDR+ Enhanced causes a delay due to processing.

It would be nice to see the developer settings and configuration options in this version included in the updated builds - if possible; particularly the BSG mod settings as included in the above version. @Arnova8G2

I use 2017 ZSL HDR+ / Pixel 2XL options and several developer flags for best effect, the combination of which isn't possible in later builds due to missing settings.
