Searching for GPS only with AA

I have seen this issue when searching the interwebs, but only solution I keep seeing is adjusting battery optimization, which has not worked for me.

I have a stock Note 8, that at random when plugged into Android Auto, I get searching for GPS. Maps does not work nor Waze.
They both work fine without Android Auto.

Figured I would check here to see if anyone is aware of this issue and knows of another solution?
