Yes, it took long to finish installing. Over an hour.
It didn't fixed app switching problem for me. I am hoping that this will fix phone restarting and network drops that I had after Android 13 upgrade. That happend rarely, but I had that.

Yes, app switching bug if I can name it that way. When I fast switch between apps using bottom screen bar everything is OK. But after that when I quit that app only wallpaper is on my screen. No icons and widgets, nothing. If I use bottom screen bar to quit or lock and unlock screen everything is back to normal. This happens sometimes, sometimes no that bug.
After Android 13 upgrade I had 3 phone restarts and after about a day or two after restart my mobile network wouldn't work. Signal bar said that there was signal but nothing worked: no data or phone calls. Only phone restart helped. I am hoping that they at least fixed restarting and network drops.

hmmm....never had that with apps, but I mostly use gesture because that semi transparent nav bar is mega annoying. What I had was my wallpaper gone mia and only a reboot could fix that. Did not happen yet on A13.

I have an unlocked U.S. variant on T-MOBILE. So far I've only received 2 security updates. Android 13 hasn't been chosen for my phone yet.

I don't see how a carrier can stop or block an unlocked phone from getting the update. I wonder if updates are controlled by Sony or T-Mobile.

SONY. But they somehow control that also. When update for european model came out I had to wait over a week to get it.

Here i found some official info about what we can get with the new 13 android:

It seems like with the 13 Sony bringing material ui if im not wrong, or at least wider customization...

what program did you use to flash the SEA version? I messed around around with Flashtool and needed to make FTF file, but the info to make FTF file is clear as mud, I was rooted and wiped my device and relock the bootloader and was hoping to get Android 13 on it.
You dont need to unlock bootloader for flashing official firmware. I just download Xperiafirm here to get the firmware then flash through new flasher. Dont use official Flashtool

I got it too. The beggist change is Material you design. They redesign walpaper picker and they add manual color pallet from walpaper colors and themed icons.
I like Press to unlock with fingerprint option. No more accidental fingeprint unlock try in packet.

Well, this is a real non-event. Never understand why some people get so excited about OS updates, I rarely notice any difference. Android 13 is a major meh for me... I wish they'd got rid of that utterly hideous drop down menu but it's still there...not much of note anywhere else either. Most of the changes/improvements must be behind the scenes....he said hopefully.
