Before I got my Nexus 6P in the mail, I've read that the fingerprint scanner can be used for more than a fingerprint scanner. I read that other functions that it might be used for include:

1. tap the fingerprint scanner to act as a shutter button when taking selfies
2. scroll in webpages or scroll in your photos gallery

I'm primarily concerned with the 1st use-case. I tried it, and it does not work on my Nexus 6P.

If someone could please respond and tell me why, or even better... How to make it work this way, that would be very much appreciated. Or at least tell me when this functionality will be arriving if its impossible to do currently.

Thanks in Advance !

Well the function you are talking about comes with other Huawei phones like Mate 7. Unfortunately it dosent come with the 6P.

Probably some one will come with an app but you may have to root in order to get it. Hope that answers your doubt :)

Hey I know this is a little old but I recently released an app that lets you do just that. It is called "Imprint - Fingerprint Camera" on the play store and allows you to take selfies using the fingerprint sensor WITHOUT root utilizing the Nexus Imprint API
