Hi,
are there some step to do to send a phone for repair?

Mine is rooted, sim unlocked, and have CM10 on it.

I know I will uninstall all of it and re-root it, but will there be some evidences I need to erase?

Wipe it and un-root and it should be fine but according to Droid Life with the ICS update Moto included a root checker (I cant link it cause I am a n00b, but basically when you go to the stock recovery screen they can tell if you have never been rooted (it will say 0/0), have been rooted (0/1), or are currently rooted (1/1) in all of the devices getting ICS so they may or may not honor your warranty... just to give you a heads up. I have rooted my MAXX (on Verizon) and sure enough I had a 1/1 on the stock recovery screen...

No there doesn't seem to be a work around just yet. But according to the posts I have read it seems as though Verizon is the one forced Moto to included the root checker in the phones so if you are sending the phone directly to Moto they might not even care. The good news though is that in all my readings I haven't hear of anyone who got their warranty claim denied because they were rooted, but I cant guarantee they will honor yours but i think you will be fine.

So if you do not have ICS, only GB, it does not have this root checker?

With ICS would you get the root checker on an XT910 (non-Verizon)?

If I go straight from GB to Clockworkmod recovery, would I avoid this root checker? Is there a better recovery?

I am fairly certain that this root checker only got installed on the Verizon ICS update (meaning I haven't found an article yet saying it was installed on the international versions.) SO if you have GB or an international phone you should be good. But if you are flashing into clockwork mod recovery you are using root so make sure to un-root if you are sending a phone in for repair. Hope that helps!

I think the 2/1 means that you are rooted and running a custom rom I don't have any hard evidence for that but that seems to be the general consensus. I feel like a derp for not asking earlier but what is the issue with your phone? If it is just a simple hardware problem I cant imagine that they would care about it being rooted seeing as many people claim that Verizon was the reason this was included into the update in the first place. I am not sure about the best way to reset everything though, the way I did it was restored my original backup and un-rooted using safestrap. I would check the site that took you through rooting in the first place because they probably have the simplest un-root method there.

I got an answer from motorola.
They're saying to try a factory reset an it should work (I knew it will not, but I tried anyways.)
And then if It does nothing, send it for repair.

Send it to your local retailer etc, with the original incoice. (I bought it on eBay, and I use it on Telus (Rogers selling the XT910 here))

But at the end of the message they says according to my imei my android software has been modified, and they don't recommend that, Root, unlock bootloader etc... unsuccessful tentative to do that are not covered.
So, they don't care uneless it caused the break.

Then I will see with the seller what I can do.
