sense 5 "taskbar"

I am stumped...Can the taskbar type bar at the bottom of sense 5 rom be altered to have less or different shortcuts? Every time I try to get rid of something it just makes a copy and original stays put? Can't put in trash either. I have looked all over the menues and don't see an option. Is this a bug or have I missed the obvious?

You have to drag them into the app drawer instead of the home screen to take the old ones out.
