A little help!

Hello,

I was in the same spot as you for my Note 3. The SD Card reader died and I had tripped the Knox Counter. I sent the phone to Samsung for repair, but unfortunately was denied for some ridiculous reason. Samsung said that the phone is beyond economical repair and denied to fix the SD Card reader. I was wondering if you could help me out and maybe provide some documentation about Samsung honoring your phone and fixing it. Perhaps a Ticket No. if you still have it. I am very confused as to why the knox counter effects the warranty status for a hardware failure. But regardless, any help from you will be greatly appreciated.

David

It took about a week between sending it in and getting it back. The issue I had was that the note would not reboot if you pulled the battery and reinserted without having to connect it to the charger. Before I sent it in, i flashed back to stock using ODIN. I checked the status of the repair and it said they had replaced a component. I wasn't sure if they were going to do anything since I had tripped KNOX counter.

**The kicker**

I got it back today and immediately went into download mode and to my surprise, KNOX was reset to 0X0!! I know they said they were going to flash it back to stock when they got it, but i didn't think KNOX could be reset (even by them).

:D

Carrier warranty is why I buy my phones directly from T-Mobile. Not third-party, not eBay (even if new), just straight from them. $0 down and 0% interest makes it a no-brainer, even if the total is a little higher than elsewhere. The "as long as it has no physical damage, turns on, and water indicator is not tripped" warranty policy is completely worth it.

They replaced my Knox 0x1 Note 3 last month because dust accumulated inside the proximity sensor, making the phone think it was always covered. I flashed it back to stock, paid the $20 service fee, and had a brand new phone 3 days later. I will never send a Knox 0x1 phone to Samsung, since they'll just deny repair (plus my prior warranty repair experiences with Samsung with multiple LCD monitors have been horrid - they sent me back unfixed units three times, claiming they couldn't reproduce the problem). F Samsung!

I have a question or maybe an observation

just out of curiosity, why are people bricking their phones and expect samsung or t-mobile to fix or do something about it, thought the whole point of xda is to gain complete control of the device, why would you expect a company that is determined in keeping control by adding a new mechanisim to their device (efuse/knox) be reasonable in providing support.

There is a reason why their is a disclaimer on every Rom Kernel to prevent people from doing just what the op and others are doing.

As a developer and tester this irks me.

So I dropped mine 2 days ago and it cracked the screen and the digitizer is going bad. I've tripped knox as well but from what I'm reading as long as i use my Jump insurance, pay the $175 deductible, I should be OK. They will send me a new phone and I'll ship the broken one back. Should have no worries right?

Yes. Insurance and warranty are two completely different things. Insurance does not care how your phone broke but the fact that it is broken. There is no disclaimer in the policy staying that if warranty is voided or if the device is rooted the policy is also voided. That being said check the terms of your policy, most insurance only allow you to have so many claims per year.

Denied Warranty... :(

Received an OTA upgrade from my Carrier for my N900W to the KitKat. Took the update (I had rooted my phone on stock firmware) and after the update, kept getting TouchWiz Error (the Standard TouchWiz app doesn't work anymore from reboot). Hard Reset phone, same problem. Reflashed from ODIN, same thing after reboot. I cannot downgrade the firmware, and didn't like using other Google Play interfaces.

So, I called my carrier who suggested I send the phone in. The service center (it says Samsung on the Building, but is an authorized service center licensed by Samsung to repair in warranty phones) told me it would be 5 - 7 working days before getting my phone back, OR, for $35.00 they could offer me 2-3 hours turnaround warranty repair. What a scam I thought, and said "No, I will wait."

3 days later Samsung Service Center called me back and denied me warranty claiming the phone had either a custom Rom or had been rooted. The girl at the counter was not clear or aware of the tech's service notes. Anyhoot, $37.75 later (had to pay the diagnostic fee, since warranty was denied and told some b.s. that Samsung wouldn't pay them for the diagnostic evaluation) I decided to pay the fee in order to get my phone back. I Was offered a replacement board repair for $375, of which I denied of course.

Called back 1-800 Samsung to complain about the shoddy service, and they said to call back when I receive the phone back and that they would transfer me over to a special department within Samsung that can log into my phone remotely to show or prove to me whether or not the phone is under warranty or not for tampering.

Give me an F'in break Samsung. I had the phone carrier unlocked. I had rooted the phone, and the phone was working perfectly on Android 4.1.2 Took your KitKat update, and have had problems due to YOUR firmware. Now, my phone is supposedly out of Warranty? Give me a Break Samsung.

Why don't you just flash a custom ROM to help fix the issue?
