Update to A14 Beta 3 by flashing the factory image with platform-tools v33.0.3, patched boot.img with Magisk canary-26102, retained root and everything seems to be OK.

Edit: If you are users of "Classic Power Menu", it is crashed when starting. AOSPMods users would also find many features are now not working such as some status bar icons, lock screen features etc.

Just realized that the fingerprint sensor is disappeared on my Pixel 6 Pro after update to this A14 beta 3! Google the web and find out I am not the only person, please read this web page and think hard before you decide to update:

PS: Further searching and I am seeing a lot of people reporting this issue to Google's "Android Issue Tracker" although most of them are Pixel 6/6P/6a. So if you are using one of these, I would suggest you stay with Beta 2.1 and not update to this Beta 3 until Google fix the issue, hopefully they would release a Beta 3.1 soon to rectify the problem.

My fingerprint reader has also gone since updating. I will say that updating was still preferable as I was experiencing excessive battery drain on beta 2.1, and this seems to have resolved.

Anybody elses magisk crashing on them when trying to select the boot file to patch? Tried reinstalling, nada.
What version of Magisk are you using? And Stable, Beta, Canary, or ? As far as I remember observing, those who are on 14 Beta 3/Beta 3.1 have had no issue with Magisk v26.1 Stable (26100).

Also, is there any possibility that you previously hid Magisk, and that you've accidentally installed a new copy instead of unhide the original?

Hopefully, someone who is actually running the recent Betas will chime in, too, since I'm on 13 Stable for June.

PSA:

I was not able to patch the boot image with the newly released Canary 26103 on A14B3.1. Cpio changes were made to this release and I got a cpio error. A Github issue has been opened.
One more question: If I remember correctly, you did mention you have a P7P, did this also occur to it? I was thinking that if it is only with the P6 series then I wouldn't expect a update to rectify it too soon and I may have to consider going back to 26102. Thanks

I'm running stable Magisk on my P7P so I don't know if it affects that device, or whether it affects stable A13 builds as well. Haven't really seen any other reports except for mine and yours.

Noted, thanks to clarify. People just may not realize it as I wouldn't know either if I don't see your message and run a test patching to get the error.

Hey! Hows battery life for everyone?
EDIT: I know it varies but would still love to hear from all of you!

Like you said it varies! I don't see much difference for my usage: I charged it overnight and with a whole day of using, it normally has 20-25% left when I went to bed. I remember that I always has similar experience with A13, A14 beta and now the QPR1. Anyway, don't get you hope up!

This is totally OT, but I've been around XDA long enough that I'm hoping I'll get a pass
Yeah, 15 years definitely earns you that from time to time. :D

I don't mind OT in my threads at all, anyway, as long as it doesn't go on for a page of posts, lol.

I'm still not sure if I'm upgrading from my P7P to the P8P. The flat screen is nice, but too late, I already have the more expensive and slight PITA tempered glass screen protector on my P7P. If the rumor that the P8P's screen has a significantly better NIT rating is true, then that would probably be my number one reason for upgrading, if I did.

Good luck to us all on our phone choices!

Your mileage may vary, but they're recommending opting out now and just not taking the downgrade OTA.

If you don’t opt out of the Android Beta Program before next week, you will get QPR1 Beta 1 on your Pixel phones, Fold, and Tablet. Your next opportunity to opt out without having to wipe (and lose data) will be at year’s end. In general, QPRs are more stable and fine for daily usage without having to wait a few betas.
Meanwhile, to get the final stable public Android 14 release, you need to opt out of the Android Beta Program now/before QPR1 and ignore the downgrade prompt to Android 13 until Android 14 has launched. Google today did not share when the stable Android 14 release is launching — build starting with UP1A — beyond “coming soon.” The company explains what to do:
Opt out of the program before September 18th, ignore/don’t apply the downgrade OTA update, and wait for the final public stable release of Android 14 (UP1A) coming soon. The OTA message will have ‘Downgrade’ in the description. Opting out will not cause a data wipe as long as you don’t apply the downgrade OTA update.
If you opt out after September 18th and your device has already been offered the Android 14 QPR1 Beta 1 update, don’t install the update. Instead, first opt out of the program, ignore/don’t apply the downgrade OTA update, and wait for the official Android 14 public release.

Like previous QPRs, the 9/20 release of A14 QPR1 for P6P requires the P7P's boot.img for root, flashed via fastboot. Correct?

    Thanks!

Edit: I got impatient and flashed A14 QPR1 for P6P with a patched P7P boot and all is working well. I didn't bother trying the P6P boot. Attached is the P7P A14 QPR1 boot patched by 26301 in case someone gets in trouble and not realize that P7P boot is required. Ymmv, use at own risk, yada yada...

Edit2: @Lughnasadh reported that P6P's boot works fine, so you don't need this image.

Just a heads up... On A14 DP1, to root this device you must use the Pixel 7 Pro boot image and patch and flash that. Similar to the bug on A13 QPR2 Betas 1>2.1 on the Pixel 6 series (was "fixed" on QPR2 Beta 3).

Oh, I used Canary 25206 but I'm guessing Stable works as well.

Welcome to the Android 14 Developer Preview! This first release is for developers only, to help with early development, testing, and feedback. Android 14 Developer Preview 1 is an early baseline build that's still in active development, so the Android system and apps running on it might not always work as expected.

Flashed the A14B4.1 factory image (flash-all.bat) with Platform Tools 34.0.4 with no problems encountered.
Same result as yours! By the way, the Platform Tools 34.0.4 seems got entire flashing process much faster compare to 33.0.3, may be just by my own feeling as I didn't do an actual comparison.
