ok I tried with a new sim card and I am still having the reboots, so the sim card is not the problem and never was. So any other recomendation on how to solve this issue? I can't belive that some many are having this problem, according to what i read, and we dotn hear anything from Motorola.
Are you by any chance confusing a SIM card with an SD card? The SIM card is the one that actually authorizes you to be on the network and the SD card is just a memory card. I'm just asking since some people said they tried using their phone without a SIM card for a while.

I'm having this issue, btw, and am headed over to AT&T to get a new SIM card to see if that resolves the issue.

I have the issue.

I was on some custom ROM (can't remember which) and the phone started rebooting every now and then. Then it simply stopped booting. It froze on the welcome screen.

I wiped and rebooted and got an error on some Android process. turned it off and on - same thing - didn't boot at all.

I replaced the custom ROM with CM10 with "Those" drivers and it has been working properly.

Now, here's my fearless idea of what happened.

I used my phone with a custom kernel @ 1.45 GHz for quite some time. The custom ROM I was using was @ 1.3 GHz.

I think I fried my processor. More scientifically, my processor has become unstable while overclocked. When I installed CM10 @ 1 GHz, my phone became stable again.

Bad thing is, CM10's battery lasts for 4 - 6 hours. Not good. But I can't find a ROM I like. I refuse to go back to Gingerbread, it's slow and it sucks. ICS & JB are unstable. Custom ROMs are ugly and somewhat incomplete.

Dammit Motorola, why didn't you give us the real ICS? This phone FLIES with CM10. It feels faster than my Galaxy Note with JB. I could love it all over again. But NOOOO.....

So it's been 22 hours now without a reboot. I can't say for sure that it's fixed, but it's definitely looking good. When I think about it, I was also getting periodic connection errors. I think the phone was starting to struggle more and more to read the SIM card.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

It's been 27 hours now and still no reboot. The battery seems to be lasting longer, too. I'm wondering if a bad SIM card could cause the processor to run more than it should and possibly causes the phone to overheat which leads to reboots.

It's been 88 hours now and still no reboot. I think it's safe to say that it was the SIM card.

Thanks to those who pointed this out. I actually like my phone again.

An approuch to the solution

Hi all, I'm new here and I would like to share my experience with my Atrix

A few months ago I bought a brand new Atrix from Amazon; this was an unlocked ATT phone that works perfectly for 3 months; then the phone began to restart itself with no reason and without any logic.

So I try everything...

1- I change the SIM card
2- I Reboot to factory defaults
3- I wipe data to factory
4- I wipe the system
5- I installed CM7
6- I went back to ATT 5.141 version
9- Now with ATT firmware version 5.91

Nothing works, and nothing fix the restart problem. In my case the random reboot wasn't the only one problem, also my phone lost connection with the mobile company network, so the phone become a little tablet.

So for those who can't connect his phone to the mobile company network, there is one quick solution: (you need to unlock the bootloader)

1- format Dalvik cache
2- Format cache partition
3- Format battery statistics

Then restart the phone wait for it to reconstruct the Dalvik cache again, and then your phone will connect to your cellphone company network; this will no fix the restart problem but you will be able to use the phone as a phone when it put itself in "flight mode".

I think that this restart problem is due to some buffer that is being overloaded, or something like that, I will keep searching and trying to solve this by my self.

If I have any advance I will post it here again.

I Would like to try CM10 to see if this fix the restart problem. Does anyone know any confidence guide to install that firmware?.

Thank you.
