Hello everybody,

does anybody know, how to access the service mode on Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) A520F?
Or at least how to lock the lte bands on this phone, this is my main goal.
Either with root or without, i don't really care.
I've installed the latest updates (Android 8 with january security patch).
I haven't found any working instructions with google.

I know how to force LTE. But i want to select a specific LTE Band. For example Band 3 or 20. Or at least disable unwanted ones.
From what I've read, Samsung disabeld the service mode with the update to oreo.
But I'm open for other suggestions. Maybe install a custom rom. But I think this won't work either because of the exynos processor.

My phone has an Exynos processor. That is what all a520 roms are for if I'm not mistaken.

If it is in your CSC, *#2263#, that is, BAND in non-qwerty/azerty/qwertz/dvorak/landscape orientation keyboards. Select gsm (2g) or wcdma (3g) on stack 2 (sim 2) or band disable. If it is not in your csc, obtain _keystrings.dat from a csc that activates it, rename it to yourcsc_keystrings.dat or sm-a520f_keystrings.dat , place in /system/etc. Try *#2263# again. Yes it is possible in a custom rom, if it was configured. The service mode going in oreo is something else: *#2683662# in the modem firmware, which started in Nougat, and a new feature of Oreo itself that prevented certain software from launching it... it is simply more difficult now... though *#2263# will band lock fine. In a520f it looks like this in 2263.

Ok nice, do you know in which csc this is active? And wouldn't it be easier to just change the csc?

XXV for example. SIN, STH, etc.

If you want to change the CSC with this context, after changing CSC, enter and exit the stock recovery . Note that there's a loss of VoLTE, VoWiFi, etc, with an incorrect CSC.

If you are facing problems of poor natwork whatever network on are u there is something for you to get Best network coverage

There are money tips n tricks are making round all over the internet
I'm also the one of them who has searched n searched on google about jio network

Than i found artical about network band
Band 3(1800)
Band 5(850)
Band 40(2300)
All above all are Lte band is jio provide to us
In my case I'll always get band 40 it's slowest band in my area why beacuse a phone automatically switches between band according to the strength of the signal in different locations

So 1thing i know that i have to control my network band or lock band 40
Than i searched and searched on google
I have read lot of article about changing your band easily
Read about different code for different mobile

For example *#*#4636#*#* or phone info to select network mode lte only nothing change same result

Than shortcut master to creat "service menu" or "Engineering mode" still no luck with different 2 device

Than *#001# it's work but can't change or lock anything

Than i finally found on Xda a magical code *#2263#
this is really magical code for Samsung devices
If it is work for you than you don't need any apps or U don't need to root your phone

Stil no luck
It doesn't work on my phone
Than searched about how to make this code to work i found small artical on xda and it's work

But you need root to access system file this guide is not work for non-rooted samsung phone

i have just tested on my s7 cutome rom of kill-switch black diomaond v7

So u need esfile explore
To perform this action

In Esfile explore goto
System/csc/etc Or System/omc/INS itc
Now look for the file name with
INS_keystrings.dat and rename it to something like xyz.keystrings.dat

Now go back to System/omc/XXV/etc and copy the xxv_keystrings.dat and paste the same where u have change file name
Omc/ins/etc and rename it INS_keystrings.dat now reboot phone

And U will see *#2263# code will stated to run
Now u can chhose any band you want or lock any band which u don't want

Note:-- what if you dont have xxv or sin csc than you look for xxv or sin csc and flash it
I think it will work without above trick but it doesn't than do it manually

YEA This worked FLAWLESSLY Thank You so much for posting this... Along with your story...
It did not work at FIRST but I did some tinkering around in my M30S with Exynos and yea *#2263# is enabled

Basically what I did was that I downloaded [/B and extracted sm-a520f_keystrings.dat inside the XXV....zip and renamed it to INS_Keystrings.dat; the Link to it is attached by Bryan here (Thanks to you also!) and pasted it where INS_Keystrings.dat RENAMING the original present in there.....In addition I also pasted the renamed sm-a520f_keystrings.dat to System/etc as suggested by Bryan

NOTE: Mine INS_Keystring.dat was NOT present in the system/omc/INS/etc...... but in product/omc/INS/etc..... the main point being that the required folders and file may be present anywhere and /System is not NECESSARY...... or just Search in the root explorer you may be using.... ALSO..... Dont forget to REBOOT otherwise it wouldn't work......

So you CAN enable service mode and change bands.... Just ROOT is needed as I have Android 10

Hello, I am new here, but I am trying to enter the service mode to enable the 4 LTE band, which is what works in my country (Venezuela) with two telephone operators.
on my phone which is a SM-A260G, I can't find the XXV file that they refer to, but I read that just like the download of the ZIP file it works, the serious question could this method work on my phone?

Lock bands, Samsung, easy peasy

You don't need to do anything with the files.
Once you pick your bands, select "9", Apply band configuration. Remember that the (*) means it's selected. Simply tap the ones you don't want and hit 9 to apply.
Works on my Samsung A71 5G

Hello!
I have a range selection problem.
This is how my menu looks like:
As you can see, I have no option to select (*) in GSM, WCDMA and LTE. Automatic mode is on, but LTE does not work, GSM and WCDMA work. If I go to the LTE menu, I can only select LTE All, while "Automatic" is disabled and GSM / WCDMA does not work. I cannot select the frequencies I need in GSM, WCDMA and LTE, there is no choice (*)
