Thanks, I went into the options after manually installing the apk, and selected "install as system app", after a reboot it was fine. Factory reset it and everything is still good - except that its still on enforcing and not passive.

I used this app that matches the name mentioned. I get a notification that it was changed to passive after granting it root access. When I go into settings to verify, its still on enforcing. When I relaunch the app again, it too has gone back to enforcing enabled.

I'm at a complete loss. On all levels, using Odin 1.85, 3.07 and 3.09, everything seems to go well. All programs report a PASS. It goes into the recovery and does its thing (I think, I go to a red Odin screen and a status script runs). Android upgrades. SuperSU crashes, every single time and Root Checker reports no root. I feel like I just got my first S2 again, and it's really irritating. Anyone have any suggestions? Something I may have missed?

Supersu is present, it just shoots itself in the head before doing anything useful.

can someone be so kind to point me to the APK or ZIP for SuperSU from this thread?

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053

all i could find was the Update "UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.01.zip" which wasn't working from recovery.

(i'm still having trouble with the "Unfortunately, SuperSU has stopped." error)
Its right in the OP which I assume you didn't read? Usually a good idea before posting questions

http://download.chainfire.eu/451/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.01.zip

And if Its not working its something on your end since I just flashed 2.01 in twrp and its fine.

that's a flashable ZIP file, not the APK. it wasn't flashing in stock recovery. i can't install TWRP until i can have root, right?

You said apk or zip lol.

You could install twrp via odin and the flash the su zip via twrp...and you will have root.

lol. got me there. i was thinking of a ZIP file of an APK.

after long googling, i finally found a download that wasn't crapware. so i installed SuperSU via APK, installed TWRP via Play Store (TWRP Manager). and now i'm all good with the Ditto Note 3 custom ROM.

After reading from post #290 onward I tried all the steps including downloading Superuser.apk (2.02) from the xda thread and I just can't seem to install it with ES file explorer. I get "App not installed - An existing package by the same name with a conflicting signature is already installed."

I'm running stock i317m, flashed with odin 3.09. Any help would be appreciated.

Try flashing a cwm recovery or philz recovery, using Odin, and then go to recovery flash the SuperUser zip file

That's what I did, got root like a boss

I am using the i317 with stock 4.4.2 rooted with cf-auto-root. Is it safe to now install a custom recovery on my device?
