I've updated the OP with the link to the latest Customized (Generic) BR FTF file. I tried to upload the pre-rooted flashable zip file, but I ran out of space in my Google Drive account.

If any of you guys need/want to created a pre-rooted package, let me know and I'll tell you what you'll need (it is actually quite simple to create it).

Best regards.

Is there a root method to new firmware (.740)?
either way, can you help me create a pre-rooted ftf? PM me, thanks!

Hello, I'm the newest SGP551 (Vivo BR) owner.

I've accepted the firmware update to 23.4.A.1.232 before make TA backup and now I'm feeling my hands tied.

(can't try to root because the bootloader is locked and cannot unlock bootloader because won't have backups, and cannot to backup because I have no root)

I'd like to ask OP to upload the TFT file for (Vivo BR) 17.1.2.A.0.314.
Thanks in advance,

---
edit: ah don't mind, found 23.1.A.1.28 @ XperiFirm, KingRoot could deal with 5.0.2

Now I want to remove their logo @ bootscreen and shutdown animation, anyone?

Hi, brothers
@Tiu Fiu
@norti
@serajr

Does anyone of you still have the Stock Generic BR 17.1.2.A.0.314 or 17.1.A.2.36 for the SGP551? I'd love to downgrade to 4.4.2, but the OP link is broken now...

Thank you very much indeed, Sirs.

//

Mil vezes obrigado!

So I've been playing with other firmwares and roms.

After I've backuped my TA and went back to default Vivo BR,
I flashed the Customized BR and got a surprise, it modified my TA partition!

Code:
INFO - Opening TA partition 2
INFO  - Flashing cust-reset.ta to partition 2
INFO  - Writing TA unit 000008A4. Value : [00, 00, 00, 00, 00, 00, 00, 00, 00, 00, 00, 00, 00, 00]
INFO  - Flashing fota-reset.ta to partition 2
INFO  - Writing TA unit 00000964. Value : [00]
INFO  - Closing TA partition
INFO - Opening TA partition 2
INFO  - Processing elabel.sin
INFO  -     Checking header
INFO  -     Flashing data
INFO  - Closing TA partition
INFO - Opening TA partition 2
INFO  - Writing TA unit 00002725. Value : [32, 30, 31, 36, 2D, 30, 31, 2D, 30, 36, 20, 30, 39, 3A, 34, 39, 3A, 32, 37, 00]
INFO  - Writing TA unit 00002774. Value : [00]
INFO  - Closing TA partition
Correct if I am wrong, so the partition 2 of TA does not contain the unique DRM keys (?)

What are the differences of Customized BR version with the other Carrier custom made roms?

Hi.

At least you made the TA partition backup! Not bad... Please remember to remove the TA segments inside Flashtools when you flash your device, or you'll probably brick it.

Do you have a Generic Stock BR ftf from 17.1.2.A.0.314 or 17.1.A.2.36?

//

It seems TA partition 2 changes does not affect anything in TA partition 1 at all
No brick, it is running butter smoothly

Nope, have you checked XperiaFirm? If the link is broken just contact them out

__

This is my first time flashing the Customized BR version, and I've noticed it was the cleanest version I ever seen.
But there are some bloatware still pre-loaded, nothing 3C toolbox could not handle ;)

For some reason, even editing the bootanimation and other stuff from Vivo's firmware, there were some huge lag at loading between boot and app cache reading. Now the loading time is greatly saved, it reduced almost to ~35 seconds. Now I can play with xposed more, soft rebooting without worries~

I'm glad XperiaFirm got this covered, the changes were huge, almost .5GB of ram saved, phew!

The only problem now it is the BR version being a little bit outdated, as 23.4.A.1.232 being the latest avaliable and vulnerable to Stagefright CVE-2015-6602

Well, thank you for the idea. I've installed the "Commercial and Journalists" ROM, and it's exactly what I wanted.

sup fellas, just found a way to run TWRP and root Marshmallow 23.5.A.1.291 (in any SGP551 rom) using Claro's kernel 23.5.A.0.575
__
Recovery & Root for MM .575/.291

--- [ requirements ]
-Flashtool by @Androxyde
-SuperSU by @Chainfire's

--- [ how to ]
1) open XperiaFirm (from Flashtool), download and flash your desired MM.
by the time of this post, the most recommended SGP551 firmware is (Customized BR) 23.5.A.1.291 / R1D.

2) you must flash Kernel 23.5.A.0.575 temporary for TWRP boot: Kernel 23.5.A.0.575 (Claro BR) (Mirror)

3) now grab the script to boot TWRP via adb: TWRP SGP551 Marshmallow (Mirror) and run install.bat

4) now let's install SuperSU (by the time of this post UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.76-20160630161323.zip) and other stuffs like enable Multi-Window.

5) OPTIONAL: flashback Kernel 23.5.A.1.291 back
Kernel 23.5.A.1.291 (Generic BR) (Mirror)

Cheers! :good::highfive:

visual guide and more explanation like how to activate USB debug mode etc.
Would this work for Sony Xperia Z2 tablet Build Number SPG511 [CDA 1281-8191] FIRMWARE 23.5.A.0.575 WI-FI United Kingdom

Thank you very much! Amazing accomplishment! Would it be possible for you to update TWRP to the newer version?

That current build won't work.
But if you provide me the kernel.sin (just rename .ftf to .zip and extract) I can add your model and make it work :victory:
also retrieve me the kernel version and information: adb shell cat /proc/version

I will download the most popular versions and try to add them into the library, hold your horses

Is there any big changes in TWRP?
I didn't compile TWRP in this version, it was taken from NUT's XZDualRecovery.
It works basically as a temporary recovery and the newest changes won't matter much, actually it only boots up once the recovery anyways...
Well, you can try to flash a newer recovery with this but I won't guarantee it would work in this time.

But yes, I'm interested indeed to compile and build recoveries myself, please wait patiently until so :eek:

Also thanks for the compliments,
Cheers! :good::highfive:

Hello, would it be possible to add my model Xperia Z2 Tablet ( SGP521, LTE, Customised UK .575 kernel) to the tool? The kernel.sin is here: SGP521 Customised UK .575 kernel If you can it would be most appreciated! Been going round in circles for the past couple of weeks trying to root or flash a custom rom. Nightmare.

Sorry for any trouble i may cause.

Permission should have been granted. Thank you very much!
oh forgot to mention, I need the kernel model and version too, can you please grab it? it should look like:
"Linux version 3.4.0-perf-g43ea728 ([email protected]) (gcc version 4.9.x-google 20140827 (prerelease) (GCC) ) #1 SMP PREEMPT Fri Apr 22 17:27:56 2016"

just run:
adb shell cat /proc/version

I'm still looking a way to read from ftf files but didn't had success

Umm if you mean what it says the kernel version is on my tablet its '3.4.0-perf-g43ea728 ([email protected] #1 Fri Apr 22 17:27:56 2016'. Otherwise I wouldn't know where to find that. Sorry for the inconvenience.
