Lots of talk about removing "tethering managager" to ensure that AT&T doesn't detect unauthorized tethering to your device (via USB).

On a similar thread for the Mobile AP built in....

I'm seeing 2 apps:

Wi-Fi Sharing
Wi-Fi Sharing manager

Should I be disabling any of these apps in Titanium to prevent detection?

Thanks!

You can't prevent detection because AT&T does packet inspection if they suspect you're tethering. There is not much you can do here.

Removing Tethering Manager is to disable the account check feature that prevents you to use tethering if you're not paying for it. If you don't remove it, your tethering won't work without paying $$$.

Thanks for the quick reply - as mentioned in the OP, I have disabled Tethering Mgr. My question is around the 2 other programs Wi-Fi Sharing & Wi-Fi Sharing manager. Do they need to run in order for Wireless AP to work?

There is only one way to find out :)

My advise is leave something you don't understand alone. Once you you removed it, there is no way to get back unless you flash back to stock.

If you have the paid version of TitaniumBackup, you can freeze them to see if anything breaks.
