That's awesome I did try 2.1 and I was impressed with the whole app just hoped the next had jpg size toggle in setting. I'll be getting back to my Nokia shortly and pushing this new version to the phone straight away

there is a 2.1 variant with 100% jpeg setting on the download site.
Notice that on both normal versions 2.1 and 2.2 ,Jpeg is set to 97% which back.rider says is optimal size/quality.

97% is more than enough though on this mi A2 I've got ATM it's 85% at default on stock app so it's a improvement always thought the previous version were auto or around 80% lol

if you want to take a HDR pic use the 3rd option "HDR+ enhanced" so it is forced to use HDR.
Option 2 is the same as latest Nokia camera, the phone decides if it uses it or not.
I always have it on, except when there is a lot of movement in the scene.
Also on bright daylight without the sun in the scene you can take good pics without it.

EDIT: proceed to my next post, this has been accidentally posted before I finished typing and slow internet caused more trouble lol.

From what I've read and understood, HDR+ (middle, default option) actually always takes multiple images as opposed to the app deciding whether to use HDR or not; and it even does this before pressing the shutter button, hence the ZSL. This produces a decent amount of HDR in general situations, and I set this as the default in my device. HDR+ Enhanced, on the kther

i noticed that on your last ports HDR works even when set to off, just quicker. Didn't have this in previous versions i think, it just took a normal fast pic on off, decided on auto, and took HDR on forced. Either way i use it all the time so no big deal. HDR off helps in scenes with alot of movement when the shutter must be fast or you get "ghosts" in the pic.

This produces a decent amount of HDR in general situations. HDR+ Enhanced, on the other hand uses old-school HDR where it takes multiple images (presumable longer exposures) after the shutter is pressed. The loading dial after the shot means it processes more information, producing brighter and more detailed images. This is good in low light and tricky high dynamic scenes (e.g. direct light) where HDR+ may fall short; the downside, though, is the slower capture time.
The mode to use is a matter of choice, and can be situational considering both modes produce virtually the same HDR quality in good light. Just to share with you guys, here's how I set up mine: default is set to HDR+, high dynamic scenes with HDR+ Enhanced, and almost all low light scenes with Night Sight (I occassionally interchange Enhanced and Night Sight, whichever works best in the situation) ;)

Agree with the "ghost" effect. Unfortunately the thing called motion metering (where the app intelligently adjusts shutter speed to cater fast moving subjects, for example) which works in all modes in Pixel 3, only exists in Night Sight in all the other ports. Haven't seen it work in non-NS modes in other ports yet. Anyway, I took a series of shots just to show how each HDR mode works.

From left to right: HDR off, HDR+, HDR+ Enhanced, Night Sight.

See how HDR+ affects the image vs its absence. Also see that the rest of the HDR-enabled modes look the same, I guess that demonstrates every mode has its appropriate use, that is in this case of an adequately lighted scene, all of them produced the same quality.

Latest back rider Vs stock app. Backrider all default settings only enabled pixel 3 AWB other than that both hdr. Still prefer Google's version (back rider app is solid) but to my eyes in more than 1 shot the Nokia app has got better
