Nope, it's a waste of time and has been done dozens of times before with no results.

But why rain on his parade? ☺

why buy an expensive new phone that can't be rooted when i have a perfectly fine older version that is? there is little difference between 3yr old phone and today's version except I AM ROOTED. so that may be why vote total is low

Because 99%+ of customers don't care about rooting, and want the new phones for the new features - fingerprint scanner, faster cpu, more memory, high res screen, Samsung Pay, etc.

Little difference besides:
Screen resolution
Screen brightness
Screen clarity
Radio bands
LTE speed
Processor speed
RAM
Charging speed
Battery size
GPU performance
Build materials
MST technology (allows Samsung Pay, though obviously that's not important if you are all about rooting)

But yeah basically the same, you know they are rectangles with glass coveted screens and stuff inside them.

Huh? Does root give you a better camera sensor? Brighter and higher resolution screen? Faster processor? More RAM? More premium build? Faster LTE radio? More LTE band support? Faster WiFi? Better mobile payment solution?

Root - no. Custom ROMs because of root that can improve and tweak stuff - yes.

Root isn't for everybody - doesn't sound like it matters for you, but for the tweaker, it's life.

No, custom Roms can't do any of the stuff I mention. The most you can dk is tweak the kernel and overclock it a bit.

Would you call a custom rom that replaced a stock camera app with an improved one...an improvement? Removal of bloat, thus freeing up RAM? Flexibility of changing radio code if latest is not as quick, stable, or battery efficent? Just because something has the latest firmware, doesn't mean it did not make things worse from the update. Sometimes going backwards is going forward - depending on the update.

Yeah, kernel tweaks and overclocking will help, too, but without root, you are forced to upgrade whatever is given to you - good or bad.

Is it me or has the S7E community been more of we are ok w/o root than other cells or is this how it normally is in the beginning before root is achieved?

Stock cameras are top notch for most phones, and are significantly worse if loaded with an AOSP ROM. Any slight config tweaks are nothing compared to phones having larger sensors, wider apertures, and newer hardware. Removal of bloat helps, but that can be done even without root, and you aren't going to be gaining several gigs worth of extra usable RAM. Radio bands are all hardware defined, you can add new bands that the hardware didn't support in the first place.

People who buy Samsung products so so knowing root may not be possible, the fact is less and less people root their phones because there isn't as much if a need anymore, and companies are locking them down more.

I can agree that for the S7E the camera can't get much better - I rarely even use mine, actually. The thing with radio code is one size does not fit all from what I have seen. So if you want the benefits of having the latest Verizon OTA's, but update and the radio is worse, you are stuck with it, unless a new one comes out that might address it. All I am saying is while root is not life and death for some, it is a very nice luxury.

Security updates are good for the first year or so, but eventually you will not have the most current. (ex stagefright updates on S4). At least you had the option of being current with updates if the maker or carrier chooses to discontinue updates.

Hardware seems to be, like you said, more updated and I will even agree with you saying less of a need to root their cells because of that, but that doesn't mean people would not use that option if root were available.

Root is all about customization.
Proper ad blocking (none of this VPN stuff!)
Root explorer with anywhere R.W. access.
Statusbar customization, etc.
Oh, and Titanium Backup!!!

It's nice to have these features.

A custom kernel that would allow tweaking GPU performance so certain apps (games) that ran butter smooth on Snapdragon 600 devices, for example, would run acceptable on this device!

Camera was very good starting with the S6 Edge Plus due to having manual mode. 50 ISO looks amazing if you have the light. And if you don't and your subject is static and you can keep (the phone) still, increase the shutter time.

But with the S7E what pisses me off the most is the overly sensitive touch screen and ridiculous battery drain when the phone is sitting unused.

Fix those two and the device would actually be nice.

Root can come later. Sometimes too late. The VZ Note 4 was recently cracked. Of course mine was sold long ago. I have the TMO version used on AT&T with a custom rom, etc. The works. And that phone still runs very nice and is very usable today.
