Did you set permissions after you copied and pasted the file in SYSTEM/bin?I need an original bootanimation file for the system/bin folder. Any custom qmg I make or install won't play, just original qmg files. Hope someone has one... thanks in (S) Advance![]()
I have one in there and yes permissions are correct...Did you set permissions after you copied and pasted the file in SYSTEM/bin?

Only other thing I can think of is maybe it's the wrong folder. What about /system/media?I have one in there and yes permissions are correct...
Is this a boot animation, if so +1 for /system/media? At least that's where it had to go on my galaxy note i717.Only other thing I can think of is maybe it's the wrong folder. What about /system/media?

It is shutdown animation, not boot.Is this a boot animation, if so +1 for /system/media? At least that's where it had to go on my galaxy note i717.
Edit:
Here is a link to how I did it on a tw ROM.

Then from the original instructions the file names and paths should be as followsIt is shutdown animation, not boot.
Actually I made an error in the file needed. What I need is an original samsungani from system/bin from a stock firmware for the S Advance I9070. According to the info in this post it is the file that will correct the inability to have my custom qmg and others work. appreciate your attempt to assist but now this starts at ground zero again lol...Only other thing I can think of is maybe it's the wrong folder. What about /system/media?

Have read through most of this thread. Most of it makes sense to me. I have made splashscreens for my old EVO. So, we are using the Samsung Theme Designer to create scripts for the QMP files so the phone recognizes them when it boots? My new phone is Sprint Note 3, rooted, updated to KitKat 4.4.2 NC5. When I choose a model from the STD I don't see any with a 1280 x 720 image size? Do I ignore this? And just put 1280 x 720 images in the STD, 1920 x 1080 would be better. Let me know if I'm moving the right direction. THANKS!!Hi everyone, this is my guide to create extension .QMG files used by Samsung to storage images & animations like bootanimation and shutdown animation.
ok lets kick it!
Software required:
Samsung theme Designer
(7zip, winrar, winzip)
http://developer.samsung.com/themes/tools-sdks/Samsung-Theme-Designer-2-0-4
Note: you will need your full animation sequence frame by frame in 480 X 800 (Samsung Galaxy S Advance) resolution and named with numeric sequence example: Image_000.png, image_001.png, image_002.png, etc.
1.- Open Samsung Theme Designer and create new theme, use type "feature(NonTouch) phone", then "select model" and use any model and "select Showcase" use default, name your theme.
2.- Chose "Idle Component" then "Idle Background" and change "Background Type" to "animated", select "frame" the qty. of frames your animation have, example 62 "
Edited: Tnx for the feedback anbech
2 A.-
2 B.-"Repeat" true/false chose true if you want to create a loop animation or false in case you only want to play a single cycle.
3.- Drag your image files sequence from your folder to the empty squares in the bottom of the theme designer (pay no attention to the canvas it is smaller than your images)
4.- Now export your theme and accept the Samsung terms & conditions and wait for your .STM file theme.
5.- Rename the .STM file to .ZIP file and open it.
6.- Copy the "IdleBgAnimObj.qmg" (Idle Background Animation Objet) to your desktop.
7.- Rename it to: bootanimation.qmg or shutdown.qmg as you required
the route for your file in the stock rom is:
You need to be root to replace the system files (thx for the feedback omnikam)
bootanimation: system/media
shutdown: system/media/video/shutdown
And that's it, easy isn't? no scripts!
Note: for Bootanimation QMG files in all this thread @anbech & @SunnyOK discover some problematics with the custom rom QMG bootanimation loading and @sonnyOK fin the solution that change color or simple didnt run the animation this was tested on SGH-I897 & SGH-I997

Updated: This is my work for chucky´s roms (tnx for allow me to work with you dude) its a mix of zip (bootanimation) & qmg (shutdown) files plus audio (ogg files) in the new future room
You need to be root to replace the system files (thx for the feedback omnikam)
the rute is:
bootanimation: system/media
shutdown animation: system/media/video/shutdown
audio: system/media/audio/ui
Thanks again for responding so fast!!! Once the files have been renamed, I assume you paste them on the root of your sdcard. Then copy and paste them over the existing files with something like root explorer? On my phone two boot animations one is a Samsung logo, and the other is a Sprint logo, can I replace both? Here is a list of my BOOTANIMATION files on my Sprint Note 3, located at /system/media/...Hi jimzweb1, just ignore the size and drop your files white the size that you prefer, but think about the image scale to fit and you can save space without loosing so much quality, cya

Ok if you look back at post #213, I deleted all those files one at a time, or in pairs. They had little or no effect on the boot animations. Once I deleted the SPR_bootsamsung.qmp the Samsung boot logo stopped, then I deleted SPR_bootsamsungloop.qmp and the Sprint logo stopped. I deleted the SPR_shutdown.qmp and both shut down logos stopped. CONCLUSION: I am thinking that the KitKat roll out was for several carriers i.e. SPR for Sprint VMU for Version, XAS for AT&T (maybe) .You could rename each one as bootsamsung.qmg to watch the file but make sure you can replace it from recovery just in case
