SIM Network Unlock Status Lost and AT&T code no longer works

I'm definitely enjoying flashing all the custom ROMs on my i777, however, I've noticed that I've lost my SIM unlock status that I previously had. From what I've been able to gather, SHOStock3 and AOSP based ROMs may cause the loss of unlock status, and I have flashed both of them. However, I think my problem is compounded by the fact that my unlock code (which I legitimately obtained from AT&T) worked before I started trying to gain root or flash custom ROMs. I tried restoring back to my 2.3.6 with root nandroid image and when I insert a foreign SIM card it asks me to enter a network unlock PIN and the number I entered from AT&T is unsuccessful. I've also tried this on AOKP task650. I've flashed SHOStock and AOKP and CM10.1 nightly ROMs on my phone.
I've also noticed that my serial number is now zeroed out, and I suspect this may have to do with the fact that I had some NAND corruption due to a bad cable. Because of that, I had to flash via ODIN the full stock UCKH7. Did anyone else who flashed that notice their serial numbers zeroing out? And I'm not even sure if the serial number is causing my unlock code to no longer work, but I highly suspect that is how Samsung generates these codes. Is there a tool to change serial numbers? Or is there a way to edit it somewhere in the EFS folder? And I don't have a backup of my EFS folders before this all happened since I didn't have root yet, and then wasn't expecting a bad cable to interrupt my flashing to gain root.

Thanks in advancefor any help.
