Yes I made sure, and I noticed that if I turn off the "automatically select" option and choose a network that 5g pops up as an option with less strength, so maybe my phone is just picking LTE due to more strength. I'll know for sure when I head into town.
I remember before I unlocked my Pixel 6 with this method I did get 5G and sometimes 5G UC where a stronger 5G signal was. I live on the edge of the radius for signal towers so I usually get the LTE signal more at home. But 5G did work for me in stronger 5G areas on the T-Mobile network

Wait... so is it possible to unlock bootloader on a Sprint / TMO Pixel 6 without my carrier's blessing?

Your phone has to be on TMO's network for them to be able to unlock it for you. Meaning you'll need a TMO sim, insert it, and use your phone with the TMO sim inside for a couple days so that your IMEI shows in their system. Without your IMEI showing in their system, there's nothing they can do for you, they can't access your phone if they can't see it.
Why did you get the TMO version if you didn't intend on using it with them?
When contacting them thru Twitter they did ask for my TMO account details, not sure if it's necessary to unlock though. It might not be, but the above still required.

I am living in Vietnam. Pixel does not sell genuine in Vietnam so I bought the Tmobile version and of course it was sim locked. That problem I can unlock it to use sim in Vietnam but can't open bootloader when contacting Tmobile staff because I don't have tmobile sim so I don't have tmobile account

You should have purchased the Japanese P6, as I believe its bootloader isn't locked. If you can return the unit do so, because you are unlikely to EVER get the bootloader unlocked on this device since you aren't in the US and do not have a T-Mobile account.

I bought a Pixel 6 Pro from Facebook (yes I know, stupid idea) and it's locked to T-mobile. I have tried going through T-Mobile's support team and couldn't get it unlocked. I've tried the ADB Unlock method for the Google Pixel 6 Pro, but I keep getting this error, "Failure [DELETE_FAILED_INTERNAL_ERROR]" whenever I try to uninstall the app that keeps it locked (com.google.android.apps.work.oobconfig). Is there any other way?

I just had luck downgrading to Android 12 support dev build found on android flash tool and then doing the original unlock.

Updating to Android 13 now and if I remember I'll report back if it is unlocked after the update.

Update, if you have not updated to the March security update yet, there is a slight chance we could use this baseband exploit to execute code that removes the device setup app (maybe even root the phone and unlock the bootloader).

Is it safe to install the February security update?
    Define "safe".

Installed the Feb 2023 update on both my P6 and P6P last night. No issues as of now.

rumor has it that the dec 2022 security update "fixed" this hack, so you might be out of luck

what security update is applied on your phone?

It has Android 13 and the Feb. 5, 2023 security update applied.

I tried the software unlock method in the next post by the Ukrainian fellow and it WORKS! everything still feels very slow for some reason... I don't if its because the phone is treating the wi-fi as a "metered connection" or if it just glitching out for some reason... but phone data works and it seems to be connecting to the network.

    THANK YOU for the tip!

    1) factory reset your phone

    2) bypass activation without wifi or sim

    3) enable adb and type

    adb shell

    pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.google.android.apps.work.oobconfig

Your device now is fully unlocked. Just dont hard reset. Dont know if updates will affect this temporary unlock. Enjoy!

Anyone been able to verify? I will as soon as I have something suitable to test in my hands, but can't now.
It works, tested on Verizon locked Pixel 7 Pro.

So, this thread game me the idea to try and remove the carrier lock. After four different customer service reps at T-Mobile the request was put in. Twenty four hours later, I have it unlocked.

I was able to connect to esim and been using both lines for a week without issues. Also updated to January security patch without any issues. I used the metered WiFi to activate the esim instead of mobile data.
