The error your reporting suggests that you haven't pushed the required files onto your phone, have you actually pushed those 2 files to the /data/local/ on your phone?
You need to or it won't work.

If you have, maybe try rebooting your phone.

I've got a problem when trying to run RUU. I made my goldcard, run crackin bat, temproot my phone and then type what i was supposed to type in cmd but as I want to downgrade using the RUU, it gives me an error code (I can't really remember what is it) but the error says that one of my bootloader drivers are outdated something like that. Could this be solved? Tks.

EDIT: And if let say I use backup tools, I will still be able to restore all those data, apps, sms and contacts like how my phone was supposed to be right?

Yes that was my mistake. And i also had to do a chmod 755 to the flash_image to get it working.
Now my phone is rooted :D

great stuff !

@Mafuzzer
many thanks for such a superb and detailed guide !
I found it an absolute breeze to follow, and have not had a better rooting experience to date.
(and I have been rooting since my old Windows phones and more recently a ZTE Blade.

thanks also to the developers of all the great tools that make it possible for the lesser skilled such as myself.

ps:
I did have one small problem, and the 'fix' may help others ... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1400983

The download link for the GoldCardTool is broken, does anyone have an idea, where to download the latest version?

Thanks

EDIT - SOLVED- Not sure what I did but it worked.

Hi, I followed you guide and now successfully on 2.1 but I'm stuck at the new rom install. I cant see ROM Manager in the Market place so I found one from the web but now when I go to "flash clockworkmod recovery" there is a blank screen at the su request. I tried clearing the "superuser permissions" under applications but it made no difference.
