The free version of Wondershare MobileGo roots the MotoX 5.1 OTA. I just finished doing it. Just download, install and click the root button.

Didn't work for me, just rebooted the phone but no root. Apparently it should work, it seems to be based on the exploit CVE-2014-3153

Yeah, ATT variant. It was only temporary though. Dunno what it was doing / using which exploit to gain root access though. Lol, I don't really trust this app. Tbh, I got a little paranoid for awhile...At&t variant?

I don't know. I'm too scared to try this root method. I was wondering if you could try it, I heard it works removing the kingoroot stuff and replaced by chainfires SuperSU.I did not. Does it work?
