Hi guys,

I have a problem wherein it will only charge when my screen is off but it only charges slowly like 10%-14% every hour connected to wall socket. When I turn my screen on and play dinosaur war which i think has low system requirement but it still discharges 1 percent when connected to wall socket.

Does the LED not light up when charging with the screen on?

Also is it safe to update my software? I saw in the notification I have a system update. will it unroot my phone?

Most probably you have a custom (CWM) recovery in which case it may fail and not apply at all.
It is recommended to flash updates through Odin to be on the safe side however current versions of CWM SHOULD allow for OTA updates.
And yes it will unroot your phone.

Are you talking about Samsung's charger they included in the package or some aftermarket generic adapter. Generic adapters often enough only provide 500mAh or do not trigger the 1Amp charging process even if capable of it.
Samsung's adapter or adapters which trigger the S3 should charge significantly faster than this.

Usually only when the screen is off.

Depends on the coding. A badly coded app (e.g. infinity loop) will use all the processing power available to it, regardless of the device's power. Other apps can change their mode (graphics, ...) depending on the device's capability.
