Slow Typing

Is the typing situation better for everyone now?
Nope. I tried Chrooma, SK Neural and a handful of others without any significant changes to speed. I stuck with my preferred, SK Beta for now but still notice a real lag when typing.

I am USA, Verizon.

Very much looking forward to the pending updates. I feel like the phone is quite sluggish. I had to turn on the old phone to wipe it out before sending it back to Verizon (a Galaxy S6 Edge) and frankly found it to be zippier than the Note 7 after a week of not using it.

Also, I tried taking the Note 7 into the pool this past weekend - what a useless experience! There is literally no way to unlock the thing when it is wet (I had sunglasses on so Iris scan was not happening). Further, there is no using the screen for anything touch related when wet - and yes, I did take the S Pen out prior to operating as I had read that can help. It did not, useless in wet conditions (a large reason I purchased it!).

Running a non-rooted Duos Note 7 with Nova launcher and about 30 apps (keeping it light for now). It's run smooth for the past week and then about 12 hours ago I started to experience bad keyboard lag). It was around the time I changed the system font to Samsung Sans (via the official store) so I switched it back but nothing changed. I thought maybe it's my Google Keyboard, but it's doing the same thing with the stock Samsung app.

This is the kind of crap I experienced when I had a Note 1 years ago (other than that always been an iPhone user). Didn't think it would still be plaguing me. Anyone have any bright ideas?

Does anyone have problems where multiple key presses happen and you get excessive letters when typing. I posted this on another forum with the errors left to show.

"Ssso the definite symptoms off my problem is the excessive letterrr input when typing. Iv even left the errors in this paragraph for a example....
This has happened to me a few times. I'm so disappointed.

Yes this is very likely to do with poor optimizations between the cores. XDA did a nice article about it showing the latency issues when typing. Software updates i am convinced should fix this problem.

This solution fixed the slow / lagging keyboard issue!

Hey thank you very much for your tip! I tried clearing my clipboard and voila! Issue fixed immediately!

Guys, I know what made it slow. Try and clean your clipboard and see if it improves. Worked on mine.

I had identified that as long as there is media in my clipboard, it will slow down the keyboard performance. Delete all the items in your clipboard and let me know if this fix your Note7.

I just did it, and it is 99% the culprit of the keyboard lag. The moment my clipboard fills up, pylon keyboard. Delete it all, smooth as Kojak's head. Made a couple quick screens on how to, attached. First pic BTW you press+hold on the settings icon to the left of spacebar.

Someone very kindly wrote to me in another thread with a solution that worked (and will work for you if you use Nova launcher) - go to settings > accessibility and switch off access to Nova. My keyboard is slick AF now.
Sadly this happened on the day Samsung recalled every handset and now I don't know what my future is with this phone :( - I'm really sad for them! Was hoping this would knock iPhone 7 to the curb (and I'm a longtime iPhone user!)

Hey there!

Is anyone having issues when typing? The lag on my phone is insane whenever I type no matter what application I use. Just upgraded to the new software too, same issue.
Easy fix...

1) Use Nova Launcher

2) Use Google Keyboard

3) Disable apps and settings you don't use.

I get zero typing lag on mine.

This solution works for me too! Great and thanks!

I noticed this with my Note 7 too. If you're using keyboards such as SwiftKey or A.I Type then there will be a significant amount of lag associated with them. I recommend something like Google Keyboard. It's simple and there aren't too many features which bog it down. Those keyboards come with too many features which cause major lag.

@AxBoH A device this powerful should never have lag to begin with especially with the memory optimization since lollipop. Samsung software is terrible unfortunately and must be poorly coded to drag this phone down performance wise.

Same cpu/Ram combo is running in a number of other devices and benchmark much higher.

im having same problem with lagging with keyboard (stock, google keyboard and chrooma; chrooma least lag) and i'm surprised this method work.
quite confused but no longer any lack.
i'm using the Exynos Note7

but i do use gesture to expand quick setting/notification a lot from nova. need to stretch all the way to top kinda difficult. nvm, hopefully the 2nd batch phone receive update and can address this issue

I experienced the same problem. Tried Samsung/Swiftkey keyboards on Nova launcher and experienced a massive lag. Tried both beta and latest version of swiftkey but still not any better.
