quick question

Correct. Otherwise you'll still have the bloat and not sure how it will interfere with booting. Personally, I think it would be useful for unrooting on the same ROM without wiping, but I haven't tried that although I am rooted.
i have a smg930t successfully flashed to smg930a and now rooted with eng boot. but noticed a few things glitchy. such as video record options crashes. no wifi calling and no video call. i am interested in having the bloat free and tether options as well as the crashing options fixed. i have flashed the U rom before but didnt keep long. i believe i was having issues with the efs or volte whenever i attempted to make a call it said efs failed and id have to retry the call and it would work the second time but that was annoying. so i switched back. my question is if i am to flash this will the eng boot process from psouza guide be adequate or is there a more recent method to achieve root? and can you share link if you know one.

From what I understand, your hardware is a T-Mobile S7 as in that's what you bought it as? If that's the case, try this link: https://forum.xda-developers.com/tm...ashing-g930u-firmware-to-t-mobile-s7-t3533918

I have no way to test if anything works as I no longer have an S7 but I doubt things have changed very much... :)

Please bear with me; it's been a while.

Bless me for I have sinned; it's been since the Motorola Atrix 4G that I've rooted/modded/flashed a phone.

I have a carrier-unlocked AT&T SM-G930A, ( 7.0 , G930AUCS4BRC1) that I'm trying to run on the T-Mobile network. I've been all over these pages and I've come to the following assumptions that I'm hoping someone will answer:

Can I flash the 930U firmware without root? I don't care about SU so long as I can be rid of the bloat. Speaking of which...

There are so many Root methods for the 930A within XDA of varying ages that a lot of the links have since gone dead. I don't blame the dev's for this at all. New stuff comes out and hosting isn't free. Is there a tried and true method to root the 930A so I ca flash it with the Factory Unlocked 930U firmware? Step by step would be great. AT&T bloat makes using the phone on T-Mobile damn near impossible.

Thank you all for your hard work. Maybe some day when we "buy" a phone, we'll actually be able to do whatever we want with it. :highfive:

No, there's no need to root to flash the u firmware. You'll just need to use the prince Comsy modified Odin to flash

Thank you. Could you help me further?
In the OP, it says to have the firmware files in the right place; What is the right place?

UPDATE:
SUCCESS! Sorta..
After using ALL the files in Odin (after like the 5th attempt), It appears to be a wildly successful. It's downloading a bunch of updates, but appears to be very stable.

Question for any of those that have tried this on the T-Mobile network: Can I use tethering now without paying for the extra service? Just curious.

Yes a bit late, but any help would be greatly appreciated:

I am on Tello(sprint mvo), can I use this flash on my brand new Att s7(930A) for tello?

Original quote from first post "This can be done on all s7 variants except for the international and Sprint variants"

Flashing U to my 930A did not sim unlock it. I requested the code from AT&T and they gave it to me but it won't work, I'm assuming it has to do with the U firmware. I would recommend unlocking before flashing U.

My question is, If I flash my ATT phone, will it then work on a sprint network? I am on tello an off shoot of Sprint ;)

ROMs / Firmware don't affect SIM unlock, U firmware is just unbranded, nothing to do with SIM unlocking, just has no carrier bloatware

I knew that, I was just saying that entering the unlock code from ATT didn't work for me on the U firmware. Its not a big deal for me since I am on ATT anyways, I just wanted it unlocked in case I decide to sell it.

Thank you

I just installed this on my SM-G930AZ (Cricket)

Now I have a SM-G930U and don't have the bloatware.

This was super easy to install.

Make sure to use the non home CSC file. I used the home version first and it failed. When I used the non home file it worked.

Great job to those who worked on this and made this possible!

ATT phones and Sprint phones cannot work in each others network. They are incompatible. CDMA vs GSM.

I've read through this entire thread but still don't have an answer as to what Security Patch the image posted comes with. Does anyone know? I'm trying to stay pre March 2017. Hopefully somebody here knows. I have one, but it's a TMO version (Feb 2017) I'd like to not have the Network bloat.
