SM-G955F SM-G955FD on AT&T and LTE band 30 missing

Have you looked into the Essential phone that is to be released soon? If I read correctly, I thought it is supposed to cover all of the bands. Please correct me if I am wrong. I also understand that since it is a new company, the customers have no idea how quickly the updates (security or otherwise) may come.

Thanks. Little disappointed in the specs and features of the Essential (no headphone jack, no waterproofing, no SD slot, no wireless charging etc) and still over $700 but the LTE support is a plus. Also I'm sold on dual sim phones so it wouldn't work for me either way. The one phone that I am strongly considering over the Note 8 dual sim version is the One Plus 5 dual sim which supports band 30 and most int'l freq bands.

Very spotty LTE in Delaware area when I had mine on AT&T. Ended up using it on 3G only most of the time. Ended up selling it and using the North American unlocked version.

It seems that S8/S8+ from AT&T as well as the unlocked SM-G955U have band 30

However the G955F and G955FD seem to not have it...

Question to International version buyers and that have AT&T, how much do you care about band 30?

Do you believe their will be a Dual sim phone with band 30 launched at future date?

I am in Canada and I purchased an G955U while the one sold here in Canada is the G955W. According to gsmarena.com the “U” version is missing (as compared to the “W” version) is missing bands 29(700) and 30(2300).

Now I managed to follow the carrier switching instructions found here and then re-flashed it with the official Bell Mobility (Canadian carrier) firmware. My phone now reports that it actually *is* a G955W. It says this not only in the "About Phone" section but also in the boot loader.

So, my question is, should it now have the missing bands 29(700) and 30(2300)?? How much of this is controlled by firmware? Is there anyway way to confirm this?

My primary goal in doing this was to improve reception and I think (hard to say for sure) that it has improved but I don’t know if that is just wishful thinking. I also don’t know what reception would be like on a “real” G955W.
